We are happy to share that Chiropodist, Mary Halleran, gave birth to a healthy baby boy on March 13th at 2:30pm weighing 7 pounds. Welcome to the world Jay William Halleran!

We are excited to welcome another Chiropodist to the clinic to serve Peterborough and the surrounding area. Introducing the lovely and talented Melody Bird! She is available Wednesdays and Thursdays for appointments.

Melody studied Life Sciences at McMaster University before attending Michener Institute of Education at UHN to achieve an Advanced Diploma of Health Sciences in Chiropody. She is passionate about the importance of foot health education and is eager to assist and treat individuals who visit the clinic. In her free time, Melody loves to stay active, travel to warm destinations and spend time with her friends, family and dog.

We are both delighted and disheartened to announce that after years of committed service our office administrator, Jane, has retired. She treated our patients like family and always made everyone feel at home. She is loved dearly by patients and staff alike and will be very missed. We are sad to see her go but are so happy for her. We wish her the very best in this next chapter! As many of our patients have told her, “retirement will be the best job you ever have!”

Unfortunately, during this pandemic, I have observed an uptick of new patients who have developed foot problems while working from home.

Going barefoot without footwear has been a common cause of foot pain. Walking barefoot on ceramic tiles and hardwood floors is difficult on your feet especially over an extended period of time. Eventually, you might stub your toes, Ouch!

Some people have acquired the "Quarantine 19" of weight gain which unfortunately places more stress on their feet.

Next up is the decision to start a home exercise routine. This too can lead to foot problems.

And finally people have been performing a lot of work around their homes which also has contributed to new foot problems.

Post script. I forgot to add this foot problem. People have try to cut their nails to avoid an ingrown nail. Unfortunately, they have caused an infected ingrown nail.
