I officially launched the group that I have created and will be facilitating this September. This group is all about changing the outcomes for our children and youth with ADHD and co-morbidities, while creating a network of support for parents and caregivers. I know this is an area of need because I have lived it. I am inviting you to be part of the solution. Please watch for the July PCNM newsletter for details on an upcoming informational session. Iced Spearmint + Lemon Tea 🍋 🌿

Herbal iced teas are one of my favourite ways to hydrate in the summer. I mix it up; but this once had been a favourite lately.

Pour boiled water over two tea bags in a 1L mason jar, cover and let steep for 10+ minutes! I let mine steep for a couple of hours but it’s not necessary. I then add the juice of 1/2 a lemon and ice.

Another favourite is two tbsp each of hibiscus and rooibos.

Don’t forget to stay hydrated! How much water do you drink daily?

Hydrating Cucumber Salad!

This is such a simple recipe, but it tastes complex.

5 mini cucumbers
2 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp tamari
1 tsp sesame seeds
1 tsp crushed red pepper flake
1 tsp coconut sugar
1/2 tsp salt

Thinly slice cucumber, add to bowl, mix with dressing ingredients, and enjoy!

Hakurei turnips are in season in Ontario! They can be cooked, or use raw in salads. I love them on the barbeque. We often include them in a grill basket with beets, onion, and garlic. They can also be combined with radishes. The flavour is amazing!

The greens are also very tasty, and add a lovely flavour contrast. You can toss them in some olive oil and add them to your grill basket in the last five minutes. Alternatively, they can be lightly sautéed in some olive oil and added to your dish.

We enjoyed these turnips on the barbeque on Saturday night. They were a great treat in the midst of the power outage and overall disruption that has accompanied the storm. I hope that those of you in Ontario are faring okay following such a wild weather event. Take good care everyone! 🍎
