Post-op Update and reveal of one of my favourite recovery items:I call it the “mastectomy life jacket” 😂I am also loving the wedge pillow I bought which keeps my spine straight and me on an angled recline.A wedge pillow is amazing for sleeping with a cold or anyone that likes to read (or watch tv) in bed. Anything that can help keep the spine straight (always thinking about that spine 😂🤷‍♀️🩷)I’m doing well and like all healing journeys mine hasn’t been a straight line 〰️Lots to work with as cancer is a mental game more than anything I’m coming to learn.Pathology report comes next. While I wait…getting movement back, working with fear and enjoying my moments 🩷

Surgery was a success!

The tumour is out and another phase of the journey is over (not including the 6 weeks recovery 😂).

I spent the night at the hospital as apparently I am a post-anesthesia vomiter but home now and so far so good.

I am so grateful for all of the love and support over the past 6 months. There are so many good people in this world despite what social media says ❤️

Four weeks post chemo!!!!Here are my random thoughts on the cancer journey thus far.Double mastectomy in a week! It’s crazy that it’s a 2 hour, day surgery that will forever alter my life…But I’m ready (as ready as one can be) There will be some rough days next week I am sure 🥲).Praying for “no evidence of disease” so the next steps are not as hard on my body…and praying for an uneventful surgery and a beautiful flat chest (beauty is in the eye of the beholder right?!)

One of my favourite parts of Peterborough is the old trees…

Sadly they don’t mix well with ice or hydro lines.

What a mess our town is in and those beautiful trees have sustained more damage 🥲

We will be closed until Wednesday - our internet is patchy so we have to rely on social to get the message out.

We hope everyone is ok and that the damage at your homes isn’t too great.

As hard as it is to be without power there is something nice about being disconnected for a bit.

Ella says we are “modern pioneers” (as we ate Swiss Chalet by flashlight last night). Very Laura Ingalls 😂😂😂

Chemo is done!!!!

By far the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

But as I begin my LAST 5 day spiral into sh*ttiness it feels like “it wasn’t that bad” (kind of like giving birth 😂).

The thing is it was that bad. It broke my heart and my body.

The amazing thing about being a human though…healing.

The body can heal.

It is self healing and self organizing and I am going to lean heavily on that in the coming months with the help of Chiropractic and my integrative team.

So can the heart.

This experience has already opened my heart to who/what really matters in life and what to let go off.

I felt so awkward ringing this bell.

It’s not in my nature to celebrate my wins but this wasn’t just about me.

It was about my beautiful family who helped me through this first phase on a long and scary journey.

My girls have handled all of this so well

The support and prayers I’ve received from all of you have really helped as well.

Thank you for caring about me and following me through this difficult chapter of my life.

There will be more hard days to come but getting through Chemo relatively intact is a huge first step.

Surgery in 4 weeks - for now it’s time to relax and celebrate (with a glass of kombucha 😂)

I can’t wait to shower tomorrow without a bag on my arm (PICC line was removed today) 🚿🛀

It's been awhile since my last update....

I have one more round of chemo!!!!

Next Friday will be my last dose of chemo!

I knew this day would come but I have to say - it has been a LONG four months with many challenges along the way but...

It is almost over and I'm still intact 😂 ❤️

I share some of what has been going on and some thoughts for you on polarization and how we process (or don't) challenging times in our culture.

We are a bunch of “Health Nuts” here at the Wellman Clinic 😂😂😂

Halloween can be fun…and healthy…and for health nuts (or Almond mom’s as I was recently called) that’s what we angle to do - stay well through this season of sugar!

I’ve never dressed up at work so after one of my young patients asked me what I was going to be for Halloween I figured I better get in the spirit! 🎃👻💀

This gives you a bit of a glimpse into my sense of humour - eye rolling, I know 😂🤦🏼‍♀️😉

Day One of my birthday adventure in Newfoundland did not disappoint.

Since we are only here for 4 days there is a lot to fit in!

Day 1: Drive to Bonavista

- beach picnic in Elliston
- puffin viewing site (the puffins left last week 🥲) but the rock formations did not disappoint
- root cellars
- seal museum
- Ford Tavern check in (our cute yellow house)
- Cape Bonavista Lighthouse
- live music at Skipper’s (and a song with the ugly sticks!)

This province is spectacular ❤️
