Our Story

Many years ago we identified a marked lack of adequate facilities for the disabled, and thus Kawartha Participation Projects (a.k.a KPP) was formed in 1978. Simply, we endeavour to provide accessible housing and support services to people with physical disabilities.

Since 1983 KPP has successfully established supportive housing units for individuals with physical disabilities in various apartment complexes. KPP’s central operation is located at Towerhill Village, 77 Towerhill Rd, Peterborough. Towerhill Village is a seventy one unit apartment and town house integrated community. Eighteen units are modified for wheelchair accessibility. KPP also provides supportive housing at various locations throughout Peterborough and the City of Kawartha Lakes with availability of some rent geared to income units.

In 1999 Kawartha Participation Projects Foundation was incorporated as a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to assist people with physical disabilities in the four counties of Haliburton, Northhumberland, Peterborough and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
