Spring Equinox

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Spring Equinox occurs when the Sun crosses the celestial equator going south to north. It’s called the celestial equator because it’s an imaginary line in the sky above Earth’s equator.

Some people feel that the equinox is a better reset point than New Year’s Day. With the longer, warmer days, you may find yourself feeling more motivated, energized, or just happier. It’s a good time to check in with how things are going by taking intentional pauses.

The Spring Equinox is all about bringing balance back into the body, invigorating your energy after a season of rest and recalibration and a place of peaceful alignment.

You may have seen Kim Hattey around the studio, making sure it is impeccably clean. Kim has been a Karma Cleaner for us since we opened - we’re so grateful to have her (and her amazing eye for detail) on the team!

If you haven’t met her yet, get to know her with these “As” to our “Qs”:

Q: Tell me 5 things I’d see when I walk in your front door.

A: A black metal Haida Raven with sweetgrass braid at its feet, my grandmother’s rocking chair, my father’s Buddha - 60 years in the family, refinished oak furniture, black and white photos taken by my father, a photographer.

Q: What is your favourite smell?

A: Sweetgrass and wood-burning fire.

Q: If you were stranded on an island, what are 3 items you wish you had with you?

A: Items .... Soap, coffee, books.

Q: What is your best advice for beginner yogis?

A: I find there is a great misunderstanding about yoga - comments like, “it’s not a workout”, “I’m not flexible”, “I don’t get it. I would say this: there is yoga for you. Every BODY can benefit from one of the many forms of yoga, just as our bodies are individual in shape, flexibility, and places we hold our stress and emotions. It’s a journey into these places, it’s like a great massage of your mind and body.

This workshop is perfect for new clients looking for a confident start in Pilates, as well as experienced movers wanting to refine their technique and accelerate progress.

Build Your Strength from the Inside Out – Pilates Foundations

This hands-on workshop focuses on building strength from the inside out—starting with breath, core connection, and alignment, then layering into full-body movement. Participants will learn and apply the foundational Pilates principles in a guided flow, gaining confidence, control, and a deeper understanding of their practice.

Return to the Heart - Kirtan with Bhakti HeartSong

Willow welcomes Kirtan with Lisa and Jeff Hamilton of Bhakti HeartSong.

🪷 This is a heart-led devotional chant experience rooted in the tradition of call-and-response mantra. Often described as mantra music or mantra medicine, Kirtan uses sacred sound and repetition to regulate the nervous system, quiet the mind gently, and guide sparks back into the heart.

🪷 Together, we create a welcoming and inclusive space where voices rise in community, inviting connection, emotional release, and uplift. A beautiful singing voice is not required - only an open heart.

Lisa Hamilton is a Spiritual Guide, Yoga Teacher, Sound Healing Facilitator, and Kirtan artist with over 35 years of personal sadhana and more than 25 years of teaching experience. Her work weaves devotional chant, vibrational sound healing, yoga philosophy, and heart-centred nervous system practices inspired by HeartMath.

Together with her husband Jeff, she co-leads Bhakti HeartSong Community, offering experiences that invite participants to regulate, reconnect, and return to the heart through sacred sound.

Yoga, Fitness and Pilates in Peterborough’s West End

While Willow provides high quality yoga, Pilates and fitness classes for all stages and abilities, we’re experts in movement for pregnancy, postpartum, 50+ and pelvic floor rehabilitation.

Our pre-registered class model means that you pay upfront for a set of 7 weekly classes, allowing you to carve out time for self-care. Once you’ve scheduled it in, it's easier to honour that commitment and get to class each week. Have to miss a class? We offer up to two complimentary make ups.

We run six 7-week sessions throughout the year, with some break weeks in-between. You choose a class that fits your schedule and goals, and commit to that class each week for 7 weeks.
