Diabetes can have a serious effect on your foot health. It is recommended to get your feet checked at least once a year and monitor for complications.

Check out this information from Wounds Canada (2021):

“Foot health should be a major consideration for people with diabetes and for those who care for them. Foot complications in this high-risk population can lead to a cascade of complications, potentially resulting in loss of limb and life. The lifetime risk for foot ulceration in people with diabetes is 15 to 25%. According to the International Diabetes Federation, persons with diabetes are 15 to 40 times more likely to require lower-extremity amputation compared to the general population. Approximately 85% of amputations are preceded by the development of a neuropathic foot ulcer.”

Plantar warts can be extremely difficult to manage. There is no “one” treatment method guaranteed to get rid of them.

There are many different strains of the virus and some can be more resistant to treatment than others.

The following case is a client who had improvement with their warts with a course of Canthardin PS but did not get full resolution until a course of 5-fluorouracil was applied.

A third of warts will resolve on their own in 6 months but for most cases that are longer than this or are causing pain or other issues, it’s best to follow-up with your doctor, a dermatologist or see a Chiropodist/Podiatrist.

How CUTE are these tiny feet!? 😍

Did you know know?

At birth the bones in the foot are mostly cartilage. As the foot grows the cartilage slowly starts to harden.

This is why a baby’s foot is more malleable than an adult foot because the bones have not yet ossified. The bones in the foot will be completely ossified around 21 years of age.
