Reminder: August 1st starts a new $100 deductible period for Ontario Seniors (65 yr old+). Unless you're filling an expensive prescription as your first fill in August, typically your deductible will be paid over the course of a few prescriptions.
Here are some helpful facts about the Senior Co-Pay Program in Ontario:

- An annual deductible: Most seniors are required to pay the first $๐ญ๐ฌ๐ฌ of their prescription drug costs each year. This deductible period runs from ๐๐๐ด๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐๐น๐ ๐ฏ๐ญ๐๐ of the following year.
- Co-payment: After the deductible has been met, a co-payment of up to $๐ฒ.๐ญ๐ญ is charged for each prescription filled.
๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ข๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐จ-๐๐๐ฒ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ (๐๐๐) ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฐ-๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ข๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ:
Recognizing that the standard deductible and copayments can be a barrier for some, the Ontario government offers the Seniors Co-Payment Program (SCP) for those with lower incomes. To benefit from this program, seniors must apply.
For the program year beginning August 1, 2024, the income thresholds for the SCP have been updated. Seniors who qualify will benefit from:
- ๐ก๐ผ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ
- A reduced co-payment of up to $๐ฎ.๐ฌ๐ฌ for each prescription filled.
- To be eligible for the Seniors Co-Payment Program, the senior's annual net income must be at or below the following thresholds:
- ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ผ๐ฟ๐: An annual net income of $๐ฎ๐ฑ,๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ or less.
- ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ๐: A combined annual net income of $๐ฐ๐ญ,๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ฌ or less.
