As a certified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, she is a well-rounded individual who lives an active and healthy lifestyle. Josie became a Registered Massage Therapist to help individuals live an optimal life. Whether you desire a deep tissue massage, work on long-term injuries and trauma, or prenatal treatment she is able to meet you where you are on your journey.

👋🏼 Hi there! Meet Dr. Akbari!

🦴 Dr. Akbari’s background as a personal trainer and advocate for active care as well as her unique approach in function and integrative therapy has allowed her to become a clinician who adopts a very individualistic approach for every one of her patients’ rehabilitation and path to recovery.

✨ Dr. Akbari graduated from York University with an honours degree in Kinesiology and was able to utilize that knowledge throughout her years of personal training and working with athletes. She furthered her education by successfully completing the Chiropractic program at CMCC in 2009; she continues to take her clinical expertise and knowledge to the next level by working alongside and collaborating with medical experts in the field of spinal, upper and lower extremity pathologies. Dr. Akbari is certified in Concussion management including neurological, cognitive and physical testing (pre and post-concussion).

✨ Her treatments include spinal manipulation/mobilization, soft tissue therapy, postural and muscle imbalance correction, laser therapy, exercise prescription, nutritional and ergonomics advice.

🏋️‍♀️Jasmine is our Registered Kinesiologist and Rehabilitation Therapist. She is passionate about assisting individuals in achieving their peak level of health and performance by providing treatment for sports related injuries and maximizing pre and post sport performance and recovery.

✨Some common conditions she treats include acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, muscle weakness, and pre and post- operative injuries. Her treatment style consists of manual therapy techniques, stretching and exercises with a fundamental emphasis on determining kinetic imbalances and re-establishing and optimizing body movement and function 🏋️‍♀️

✨Jasmine believes in using an evidence-based approach to care. She has a continuous commitment to education, and she enjoys learning about cutting edge techniques and best practices that she can implement in her practice.

🏀 She treats the athletes of Durham Basketball Club and Jungle Prep Basketball helping them achieve their peak state of health and performance.
