There are 8 weeks left before I’m off for the holidays and things are already filling up, so if you’re hoping to get in before the end of the year don’t wait until the last minute!

The majority of my practice is women struggling with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, period concerns, acne, weight loss resistance, vaginal complaints, menopausal concerns, IBS, food sensitivities, anxiety, depression and unexplained fatigue. I also work a lot with couples diagnosed with unexplained infertility, those struggling with recurrent pregnancy loss, and couples wanting to optimize their health whether they are planning on trying to conceive naturally, or undergo assisted reproductive technology (IUI + IVF).

Short answer: Because I truly saw the difference I’d be able to make in people’s lives, and that’s what I cared about!

Growing up, I remember 2 distinct times when I was dealing with health concerns that I never really felt I got the help I needed with. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my family doctor, but she would be the first to acknowledge there wasn’t anything “wrong enough” with me that warranted medication (not that I wanted to be on any) so there wasn’t much else she could do - and that was incredibly frustrating 👎🏻.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started seeing a Naturopathic Doctor and man did it change my life! ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The things that really stuck out to me were:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) We talked about my health as a whole. No one had ever asked me about my sleep or stress or digestion unless I complained about them. It seemed so weird, but made so much sense that you’d need the whole story to get to the root cause of my problems.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) She listened, and I mean genuinely listened to what I had to say. There was no rush in our appointments. I wasn’t capped to a maximum amount of health concerns per visit, or out the door in 10 minutes scrambling to make sure I said everything on my list.

3) There were natural treatment options available. This was important to me as I never liked the idea of being on medications unless absolutely necessary.

4) I got to have a say in my treatment plan. I wasn’t just given a prescription and told what I needed to do. It was a conversation and the two of us decided together what we thought was best for me.

5) What was going on in terms of my health got explained to me in a way that made sense. I walked away feeling knowledgeable and empowered about my health instead of confused or hopeless.

I could probably go on for at least 10 more bullet points, but needless to say it didn’t take very long until the thought of going to conventional medical school, or any other careers I was intrigued by flew out the window. I was 100% sure I was going to become a naturopathic doctor and I’ve honestly never looked back since! 👩🏼‍⚕

I love baked treats and chocolate 🍫, being outside ☀️, and I’m not one to brag, but lately I’ve been kicking butt in my Fitbit group’s weekly step challenge 🏆. This summer I’ve been spending some time working on my golf game🏌️‍♀️, although I’m not sure I’m getting any better 🤷🏻‍♀️. My guilty pleasure is watching The Bachelor 🌹 and I can’t wait for a new season to come out!

Having your health working for you can change your life for the better in more ways than most people probably imagine. Trust me, I’ve been there, and being on the other side it’s crazy looking back!

I work with lots of amazing people and have seen so many amazing things happen and that’s why I love what I do! 💕

Over the past week there have been so many big wins that I can’t help but share a few!

✨ We fixed A’s gut issues, which improved her relationship because she’s not held back due to being bloated and in pain on a daily basis.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨Getting to the root of S’s anxiety helped her take the leap towards a long overdue career change and she’s so excited about it.

✨ Getting to the bottom of A’s weight loss resistance, and the scale finally bugging, gave her the confidence to put on a two piece bathing suit for the first time in years.

✨ Addressing R’s stress not only helped her sleep better and have more energy but she’s now expecting her first baby after over a year of trying.

I love supporting women before, during and after pregnancy! A healthy mom (and dad) leads to a healthy baby and what better way to support longterm health than ensuring your little is set up for success right from the beginning ✨.

Below are a list of my top 5 supplements that should be considered for moms-to-be. That said, talk to your naturopathic doctor or healthcare provider about what’s right for YOU.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A GOOD QUALITY PRENATAL🤰: A good quality prenatal will contain the active form of folic acid which is what helps prevent neural tube defects. I have yet to see a good quality one a day prenatal. If your prenatal is a one a day, and dyed pink or blue, you’re not getting the best form of nutrients for you and baby, and unfortunately you’re getting unnecessary ingredients like dyes in your pill 👎🏻.

OMEGA 3’s aka FISH OIL 🐠: Providing your body with EPA and DHA helps with the development of baby’s brain and nervous system and can decrease the chances of baby developing asthma, eczema, and allergies. Make sure you’re fish oil is good quality.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A PROBIOTIC 💊: Probiotics during pregnancy help support moms immune system and prevent constipation💩. They also help to decrease the chances of baby developing asthma, allergies and eczema.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
VITAMIN D ☀️: If you haven’t had your vitamin D levels checked - you should! Having adequate vitamin D increases your chances of successfully becoming pregnant and decreases your chances of miscarriage. Having adequate vitamin D is also important for moms mood during and after pregnancy.

IRON 🥬: You should have your iron levels checked. If your levels are suboptimal you should be taking an iron supplement. Iron deficiency is an incredibly common nutrient deficiency and your body’s demand for iron goes up during pregnancy. Maintaining adequate iron stores is important for both you and baby. Symptoms of low iron are fatigue, hair loss, low mood, shortness of breath.

If you’ve spent enough time with me you’ve likely heard me speak about the negative impacts of spending too much time in “fight or flight mode”. Chronic stress is SO commonly overlooked and can negatively impact our health in many many ways from messing with digestion, to worsening PMS, affecting sleeping, upping anxiety, impacting mood and making it difficult to lose or gain weight just to name a few 👎🏻.

Setting aside some time to unplug, do the things that bring you joy, and allow you to relax is so important for our physical, mental and longterm health ✨.
