Ok ladies, let’s talk AMH.

Have you been told you have low AMH and that you’re running out of time? First off, I want you to take a deep breath and relax. Because your AMH is not what it’s cracked up to be.

What’s AMH you ask? It stands for Anti-mullerian Hormone. Or I like to call it the Anxiety Making Hormone because once women hear their AMH is low and they learn that AMH is a reflection of the number of eggs they have left in their ovaries, they start to panic as they start to feel that time is running out to become a mom.

But I’m here to tell you don’t panic. Because AMH doesn’t tell you the whole story. Yes, a low AMH points to diminished ovarian reserve or the number of eggs you have left. But AMH is not definite and it does NOT measure the quality of the eggs.

When it comes to fertility, egg quality is what drives fertility status. Yet, so many women believe that how many eggs they have left—their egg count—is the primary indicator of their fertility. But, while egg count is part of the equation, the true driver of fertility is egg quality!

This is a GAME changer because while we can’t control how many eggs we’re born with we can influence the quality of our eggs and improve to maximize our fertility!
Did you know the egg you will ovulate in 90-days is being affected by what you are doing today?

That means what you eat, and do impacts the health of your future egg.

If you can dedicate 90-days to establishing healthy habits and routines that foster healthy eggs you can greatly improve your fertility. Why 90 days? Because the natural cycle of an egg is about 90 days. To truly make a difference you need at least 90 days.

When you’re a woman 35 and over struggling with fertility, you might have been told or you might feel the need to rush into IVF and other ART. 😲😲😲 However, these treatments don’t necessarily solve the likely ISSUE that is affecting your fertility status. ⁣

But most women are unaware of this. So for a long time they will continue to struggle day to day with feeling that they are running out of time and feeling rushed into invasive procedures, only to have them fail.⁣

And just when they thought they had to live with this forever, they had a breakthrough when they heard that chronological age is different from biological age. ⁣

This is an extremely important factor to understand when it comes to age and fertility. Your chronological age is the number of years you’ve been alive. Your biological age is how old your body seems, based on a number of factors including diet and nutrition, exercise, stress, exposure to toxins, and sleeping habits to name a few. These same factors can also impact the quality and biological age of your eggs. ⁣

Eggs have a 90 day growth cycle that means what you do and eat now can impact them. So the point is, yes while its’ true that age matters in fertility. But when you factor in biological age and taking care of ourselves we can improve the quality of our eggs and reduce the aging process. ⁣

As long as you’re still ovulating, and still cycling, you can improve your fertility and the quality of your eggs to maximize your chances of conceiving whether naturally or via assisted means. ⁣

This is why as a naturopathic doctor we focus on things like nutritional deficiencies, addressing oxidative stress, inflammation and toxins to get your body back in the right state to enable it to produce mature and healthy eggs.⁣

Women over 35 may just need to be more patient and sometimes need to take the extra time to prepare their body before they can conceive 🤰 and have a healthy baby. I hope this shows you that a healthy, natural pregnancy for older women is realistic for most women, with the right preparation!

Stay healthy and safe everyone.

Dear Active Integrative Medicine patients, ⁣

For the health and safety of our staff and patients, and to adhere to our responsibility of social distancing, we have made the very difficult decision to temporarily close our clinic. Given the uncertainty of the situation, we will remain closed until the Ministry of Health and our respective regulatory colleges recommend that it is safe to resume regular care for our patients.

What does this mean for our patients?⁣
• We will be closed from March 19th, 2020 until further notice⁣
• All upcoming appointments with all practitioners are cancelled effective immediately ⁣
• We will not be rescheduling appointments at this time due to our indefinite closure. Once the clinic re-opens, we will begin contacting patients then to reschedule appointments. ⁣
• Our online booking system is temporarily shutdown ⁣
• Naturopath Patients: If you are in need of a supplement refill, you can email us at info@theaimclinic.ca. We are partnered with the virtual dispensary Full Script. Through them, you can order your supplements and have it delivered to your door. ⁣
• We will provide updates via email, Instagram, and Facebook with regards to changes in clinic operations ⁣

These are difficult times for us all, and we want to ensure we are doing our part in taking all precautionary measures against this virus. We feel at Active Integrative Medicine that our patients and staff come first, which is why we know this is the right decision to keep everyone in our community safe and healthy. We truly value each and every one of you, and we appreciate your patience, understanding, and support during such unprecedented times. ⁣

We hope you and your families are all in good health, and we look forward to seeing you all when we re-open.
Thank you,

The AIM Clinic ⁣
