Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it this Sunday morning.

In a world that can feel heavy sometimes, this week reminded me just how many genuinely kind, good people are out there.

I had several people reach out to switch to our pharmacy—sharing that they were tired of feeling like “just a number” and looking for something more personal. The trust they placed in me, without even having met me yet, honestly meant everything. It’s something I don’t take lightly, and I’ll always do my best to take care of every single person who walks through our doors.

And then, a woman I had never met before stopped by with the most beautiful flowers, just to say thank you for helping her husband when he came in as a walk-in. Moments like that stay with you.

This is why we do what we do.

I don’t take any of it for granted. Not the trust, not the kindness, not the opportunity to be part of your care.

Let’s all try to do one small, kind thing for someone today. It goes further than you think 🤍

I don’t usually do introductions like this, but if you’re trusting me with your health, you should know who I am and what I stand for.

I’m the owner of HealRx Medical Clinic & Pharmacy. I’m a mother, daughter, pharmacist, drug inspector, second degree black belt, and above all, someone who believes protecting your health is your power.

Every day, I meet women who are strong, independent, and doing their best… but don’t always realize when they’re putting themselves at risk. Whether it’s multiple partners, shared living situations, or simply not knowing a partner’s status—these are real situations, and they deserve real, judgment-free conversations.

Let’s be clear about something: PrEP is not just for one group of people. It’s not “just for gay men.” That narrative has left too many women unprotected and uninformed.

I wanted to share something I see often working in healthcare.

Why is it that we’ll openly talk about cholesterol, blood pressure, or diabetes… but sexual health is still something people feel uncomfortable asking about?

People will come in and quietly ask about STI testing or HIV prevention, almost like they feel they need to whisper the question. The truth is, there’s absolutely nothing to feel embarrassed about, it’s simply part of taking care of your health.

One of the biggest surprises for many people is learning that PrEP, a medication that prevents HIV, isn’t just for one specific demographic like gay men. It’s actually meant for anyone who may be at increased risk, whether that’s from new relationships, multiple partners, not always knowing a partner’s status, or simply wanting extra protection and peace of mind.

There’s also PEP, which can help prevent HIV after a possible exposure if it’s started within 72 hours.

At HealRx Medical Clinic and Pharmacy we’ve been working to make these conversations easier and stigma-free for our community by offering:

When I opened this pharmacy and clinic, my goal was simple, to give back to the community.
What I didn’t expect was how deeply this community would give back to me.

I lost both sets of my grandparents years ago, and that’s a space in your heart that never quite fills. But today, a very special patient called me her “granddaughter” and hand-made these beautiful pieces of jewellery just for me.

It’s moments like this that remind me, healthcare isn’t just prescriptions and appointments. It’s relationships. It’s trust. It’s love in the most unexpected ways.
