Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation

Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation We are an independent, registered charity. Together, and with your support, we can make this ambition a reality.

We raise funds to help renovate and maintain our County Hospital and are raising funds for our new hospital in Prince Edward County. Founded in 1985, the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF) has an opportunity to design the future of healthcare in our community. The Foundation raises money to help achieve this vision through building infrastructure and maintenance, for the purchase of high-priority equipment needed for patient care, and for medical innovations that will transform how our hospital delivers care and improves the lives of all County residents and visitors.

đź’™ Honouring a Legacy of Care Close to Home đź’™

On Monday, January 26, 2026, we had the honour of receiving a $40,813.03 bequest from the Estate of Eva Middleton.

Eva’s thoughtful decision to include the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH) Foundation in her will demonstrates her commitment to the continuity of healthcare in Prince Edward County and to keeping care close to home.

Her family joined us to celebrate and honour her remarkable generosity, a legacy that will make a lasting difference.

“Gifts like Eva’s are a powerful reminder that thoughtful planning can make a meaningful difference for generations to come,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “Her generosity will help ensure our hospital continues to provide exceptional care close to home.”

A gift in your will is one of the most impactful ways to support local healthcare. If you’re thinking about your legacy, we would be honoured to be part of your plans.

✨ Care Champion Recognition – PECMHF Foundation Team ✨🧡

This week, the PECMHF Foundation Team has been recognized as Care Champions by one of our Board Members, who described the team as simply “amazing.” 🙏

While we don’t work at the bedside, we’re honoured to support those who do. From fundraising and stewardship to community connection, the Foundation team works hard to ensure that the Care Champions who care for our patients have access to the equipment and resources they need to deliver the best care possible—close to home. 🏥💙

We’re incredibly grateful for the trust placed in us by our Board, donors, and community. And we share this recognition with all those who help make our mission possible. Thank you!

💗 Supporting early detection, close to home - We are deeply grateful to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 78 Poppy Fund for their generous $10,000 donation in support of replacing PECMH’s aging digital mammography machine.

This gift brings us one step closer to a new, state-of-the-art mammography unit—providing clearer imaging, faster results, lower radiation exposure, and improved accuracy for early breast cancer detection.

Since 2001, the Legion has been a steadfast supporter of our hospital, helping ensure veterans, their families, and our entire community have access to high-quality care right here in Prince Edward County. Since 2001, Branch 78 has contributed more than $45,550 to support critical medical equipment and services.

đź’™ Thank you for your continued commitment to health, dignity, and community care.

📊 Campaign update: $646K raised toward our $1M goal for the new mammography machine.

🧡✨ Care Champion & Retirement Tribute – France Porter, RN ✨🧡

After 38 years of compassionate nursing care, we are honoured to recognize France Porter, RN, as a Care Champion—and to celebrate her well-earned retirement from PECMH. 🩺🎉

This tribute comes from someone who saw her dedication firsthand—not from a hospital bed, but from the other side of the door: her husband. 💬

“Although I was never a patient of hers, I am the husband she came home to every day after work. I know that France has made a difference not only in the lives of the patients she’s taken care of, but the family members of those patients.”

Throughout her nearly four decades of service, France was a role model of kindness, professionalism, and teamwork. She always spoke highly of her colleagues—from nurses and doctors to support staff—and her impact extended beyond the hospital walls, as she raised three wonderful children, including one daughter she had the joy of working alongside at PECMH.

To honour her legacy, France’s family has made a donation in her name toward the new hospital build—a testament to her lifelong commitment to caring for others.

France, your presence will be deeply missed by your colleagues, but your legacy lives on in the patients you've helped, the team you've supported, and the family you've loved. đź’™

Our Story

We are an independent, registered charity. We raise funds to help renovate and maintain our County Hospital and to purchase medical equipment such as vital signs monitors, vital diagnostic tools, scopes and much more. Your financial contributions have allowed us to invest over $7M in our County Hospital. Unlike operating costs, medical equipment is NOT paid for by the government. Communities must equip their local hospital. Your support means we have reliable equipment. That helps the hospital keep services cost effective and available close to home.
