Pincher Creek Medical Clinic

Pincher Creek Medical Clinic We are a Family Medicine clinic in Pincher Creek, AB that practices patient-centred, comprehensive, evidence-based primary care.

Notification: If you need to cancel your scheduled appointment, please call at least 24 hours in advance. Appointments are in high demand, and your early cancellation will allow another patient to access timely medical care. First No-Show: The first time there is a no-show, we will send a reminder to the contact details on file, letting you know about the missed appointment and the importance of t

imely cancellation. Subsequent No-Shows: If a second no-show occurs within a 12-month period, a $100 fee may be charged to your account. Insurance does not cover this fee and must be paid before your next appointment. Exceptions: We understand that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances occur. If you can't make your appointment because of an emergency, please let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust the charges accordingly. Appointment Reminders: As a courtesy, Pincher Creek Medical Clinic will send a reminder for your appointment via [text/email/call] [24/48] hours before your scheduled time. Please ensure your contact information remains up to date. Thank you for being a valued patient and for your understanding and cooperation as we institute this policy. This policy enables us to better utilize available appointments for our patients in need of medical care. We understand that unplanned issues can arise, and you may need to cancel an appointment. If that happens, we respectfully ask for scheduled appointments to be cancelled at least one business day in advance. Our doctors want to be available to meet your needs and the needs of all our patients. When a patient does not show up for an appointment, another patient loses an opportunity to be seen. Although we have always had a cancellation policy, circumstances have caused us to enforce a policy of charging for no-show appointments and appointments not cancelled within 24 hours and if you arrive too late to be seen. As of February 1st, 2024, a fee of $100.00 will be assessed if we do not receive a call to cancel an appointment. “This fee is NOT covered by insurance.”

Today we celebrate Pi Day (March 14) — a fun tribute to the mathematical constant π (pi), the number that represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. Whether you're a math lover or just here for the desserts, it’s the perfect excuse to enjoy something round and delicious. 🥧
So take a moment to appreciate the infinite beauty of π… and don’t forget to have a slice today! 😄

⭐️⭐️It’s Not Just "Hemorrhoids": Many young patients dismiss symptoms as hemorrhoids or IBS. Check in with your doctor!

International Women’s Day (celebrated every year on March 8) honors the achievements, resilience, and impact of women across history and around the world. It’s a day to recognize how women have shaped science, politics, art, and social progress—often overcoming significant barriers to do so.
Iconic figures remind us of this legacy. Marie Curie revolutionized science as the first person to win two Nobel Prizes, pioneering research on radioactivity. Rosa Parks became a symbol of courage when her refusal to give up her bus seat helped ignite the civil rights movement. In politics, Indira Gandhi became one of the world’s most powerful female leaders, while Malala Yousafzai continues to inspire millions through her fight for girls’ education after surviving a Taliban attack.
International Women’s Day celebrates these pioneers and countless others—artists, scientists, activists, leaders, and everyday women—who have challenged inequality and opened doors for future generations. It’s both a celebration of progress and a reminder that the pursuit of gender equality continues. 💜

Featured Medical Student: Altay B.

Altay B. is a medical student at the University of Alberta, originally from Calgary, who is thoroughly enjoying the variety and hands-on experience of his clerkship year. He has a particular appreciation for family medicine, where he values the opportunity to truly get to know patients and their stories.

Passionate about health, wellness, and an active lifestyle, Altay has always been drawn to the outdoors—especially the mountains. That made Pincher Creek the perfect place for his clerkship. During a visit to Joe’s Fitness, he was reminded of the powerful connection between lifestyle, health, and happiness.

Outside of medicine, Altay enjoys spending time with his family, cooking and sharing meals, and exploring the outdoors with his two dogs, Maya and Toby.

What has stood out most during his time in Pincher Creek is the community: tight-knit, straightforward, and genuinely friendly. He’s found this same spirit in the local physicians, whose patient visits feel more neighborly than clinical. Altay has also been pleasantly surprised by the number of unique community events the town offers, as well as the stunning wildlife and beauty that surround it.

The staff at the Pincher Creek Medical Clinic have been especially memorable—warm, supportive, welcoming, and eager to include him in conversations and ideas. Their hospitality has been a true highlight of his experience.

Altay’s guilty pleasure is Oreos—the classic chocolate-and-cream cookie that he finds impossible to resist.
