Join us for Run Strong, a course designed specifically for runners looking to enhance their performance and resilience through targeted strength training. Over four sessions, you will learn the essential components that contribute to a well-rounded running regimen, led by experienced strength coach Steve Di Tomaso.

Day 1 focuses on Core and Mobility for Running, emphasizing the importance of a strong core in optimizing energy transfer and maintaining proper alignment to reduce injury risk. Through targeted exercises and mobility drills, you will improve your range of motion, enhance running efficiency, and promote better recovery.

On Day 2, we delve into the unique challenges of Downhill Running. This session will train your eccentric muscle strength, allowing you to control your speed and form on descents while minimizing the risk of common injuries. You’ll learn how to improve your running economy, enabling you to descend faster with less effort.

Day 3 is dedicated to Uphill Running, where you will develop muscular strength in key areas like the glutes, hamstrings and calves. This training will enhance your power and endurance, allowing you to tackle steep inclines with confidence and improved mental resilience.

Finally, on Day 4, we will cover Injury Prevention strategies that address muscle imbalances and enhance stability and mobility. By reinforcing proper movement patterns and biomechanics, you will become a more durable and capable runner, ready to take on any training challenge.

Whether you’re a trail runner, marathoner, beginner or veteran, the Run Strong course will provide you with the tools you need to become a stronger, more resilient runner.

RED May is a free community participation event with the purpose of bringing awareness for physical activity as it benefits those living with MS. I had coined the term ‘RED’ May, as it was just easier to say than "run everyday in May". We have expanded our initial challenge to include walking or "roaming" and riding as well and this year we are adding RESISTANCE training and RECOVERY to the list. Heck, any physical endeavor that is intentional will count.

Introducing the newly expanded R.E.D. May:

Run
Ride
Roam (walk)
Resistance Train
Reach & Roll (swim)
Recover (stretch / foam roll)
Add any thing else that falls under that umbrella (especially if you can make it work with the “R” acronym).

Keep in mind that ONLY one activity is required daily. While running was the initial challenge it was somewhat exclusionary. We want to promote physical activity for health span and we know that both cardiovascular fitness and the health of your muscular system are the two trainable keys to your longevity (so we will also accept other related activities that don't necessarily start with "R" like swimming). It's absolutely the best year to jump on in!

You can participate from ANYWHERE in the world, but you have to be local to BC lower mainland to be eligible for weekly prizes. We will have prizes from our community partners at Envision Fitness, Pitt Meadows Cycle, and Sole Experience.
