Increase your shoulder ✨ Range of Motion and Stability ✨

CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations) are an awesome way to use all of our joint range of motion and help strengthen it too!

These exercises are beneficial for everyone. I even have my bodybuilder patients do these because it’s not often they’re training at their maximum range of motion.

It’s important to remember that these exercises shouldn’t be painful! If they are please stop and get a professional evaluation to help find out what may be going on in your shoulder!

Let me know how much you love these and how they’re a lot more challenging than they look! Happy training 💪

🔊 Let’s talking about foam rolling! 🔊

The past few years foam rolling has exploded in popularity with many popular fitness influencers saying it can change your life. Let’s break down a couple of those things and talk about why foam rolling can really do!

❌ Foam rolling breaks up scar tissue ❌ Absolutely not! Foam rolling is not enough force to break up scar tissue!
❌ I’m releasing my IT Band ❌ Rolling on your IT band all day isn’t going to “release” your IT band! You’re better off stretching the muscles on the side of your hip I’m losing the tensor fascia lata if you are experiencing tightness on the outside of your thigh or knee.

✨ Foam rolling can temporarily increase range of motion ✨ This one is true! You can see me here with a foam roller trying to get some more extension in my upper back which is something I’ve been working on a lot recently!

🔸Rotation in the backswing is crucial to generating power and hitting the ball farther! 💣

🔸With a golf club on your back, try turning as far as you can to each side while keeping your knees together. You should be getting to 45 degrees. I like to sit on the corner of a table which helps to visualize where 45 degrees is 📐

🔸PGA players average well over 50 degrees! 🤯But it’s recommended the average player have at least 45.

🔸If you’re finding it tough getting to that 45 degree mark give this stretch a shot! Using the hand to pull on the rib cage can help get more out of this stretch. Keep in mind stretching should NEVER be painful 🛑 If you feel pain when doing this stretch stop immediately and contact a health professional.

🔸And finally, admire your new backswing gains 😎🏌️‍♂️

Life is pretty overwhelming for most people right now, so I want to know...what do you need right now in this moment?
🌟 Is it rest and relaxation? Peace and quiet?
🌟 Is it gentle movement, exercise, and endorphins?
🌟 Could you use a healthy meal, or maybe even a big glass of water?

In times of overwhelm, stopping to listen to our bodies and fulfilling some of our most basic needs like movement and deep breathing can reduce anxiety and stress and reset our fight/flight loop response.

So, tell me-- what does your body need today and how will you prioritze your needs?
