Therapeutic Massage

The scientific art and system of assessment, and manual application to the superficial soft tissue of the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and the structures that lie in the superficial tissue using the hand, foot, knee, arm, elbow, forearm through the systematic external application of touch, stroking (effleurage), friction, vibration, percussion, kneading (petrissage), stretching, compression, passive and active joint movements within the normal physiological range of motion, and adjunctive external applications of water, heat, and cold. Therapeutic massage is a way to establish and maintain good muscle tone, promoting relaxation, stimulating circulation, and producing therapeutic effects on the respiratory, nervous system, and the subtle interactions between these systems through the mind/body connections, in a safe environment that respects the client's self determined outcome for the session. Relaxation Massage
A massage that is focused on stress release and relaxation. Compressions, rocking and soothing strokes are used to promote relaxation and client comfort. It combines an "overall wellness" massage treatment that focuses on relaxing and coordinating the nervous system, Swedish style massage strokes with rotation of joints and limbs as well as the stimulation and vibration of organs and glands. Pregnancy Massage
A massage that is focused on rejuvenating and relaxing the mother-to-be. Using a combination of relaxation and soothing strokes to help decrease stress, anxiety, discomfort and pregnancy related strain on the body. The shape of his hands in the first picture was how large his knee was at first. He could not straighten his leg. He would have to go down stairs sideways due to arthritis.

9 months later, with dedication, massages and castor oil his knee shrank.

1.5 years later, same routine and you can see in the second picture, that the knee has gone down even more.

What a champ! It goes to show, given the right environment and some dedication, the body can heal from alot!
