This time of the year many of us reminisce about our Christmas’s past, there is usually many wonderful memories but there can also have been times when things were difficult, and we experienced grief, sadness and pain. This is a time of year where our emotions can be at an all time high and easily triggered.

Every day is an opportunity for us to heal from our past and choose to think of things in the best way to support ourselves today. Healing from old family patterns and taking the wisdom gained from those experiences and lessons learnt is a way to create more space for happiness and joy in our lives today. The families we were raised in taught us lessons of love, resilience and also about forgiveness. As an adult we have our own power to leave behind old ways, heal from the story and embrace the new.

We can leave the old story behind by shedding light on what is no longer serving us. Just changing our perspective from being wounded to being empowered from the lessons learnt, creates a different vibration within. Although we can’t change what may have happened, we always have a choice to change how we feel about the past and we can do this by knowing that we are in control of our thoughts and emotions and choose only those that feel good.

Make peace with the past - you survived 100% of those bad days. Choose light and love and be kind and gentle with yourself in your thoughts, know your best is good enough. “Life is 10% of what happens to us and 90% of how we react”

It’s been over three years since I started my training and began working with people using hypnotherapy. It has been a time of steadily learning, gaining knowledge, experience and integrating all of this to customize and create sessions specific to a client’s needs and desires. I’m so grateful for all the wonderful clients I have had the pleasure of working with. I love the uniqueness of people and really enjoy individualizing session to guide client’s in achieving their goals. Working with people in this way has been a passion of mine and it has been very rewarding.

My recent focus has been to share tools and techniques so people can use self-hypnosis to assist themselves after our sessions. We mentally rehearse through imagery and practice the tools in situations that is the past caused them stress, anxiety or trigger a panic attack. Others use these tools to rid themselves of habits, to fall sleep or to create motivation on reaching goals. Using self-hypnosis puts people in control of their thoughts, feelings and actions. The tools I share are easy and effective for people to use at anytime, they are literally right at people’s fingertips and within moments people can put themselves in a calm, relaxed and confident state.

There is nothing mystical or complicated in using self-hypnosis, it is natural and becomes automatic once practiced and most of all it puts people in control of their emotions in any situation. Athletes use creative visualization and self-hypnosis all the time, they mentally rehearse and see themselves confidently achieving their goals.

During a hypnotherapy session, I introduce suggestions specific to what the client has asked to achieve or overcome. These suggestions enter the subconscious mind and with guided imagery and the use of what I call “power tools” clients can then use and easily practice self-hypnosis following our sessions, which then reduces the number of sessions they will require.

I’ve have said this many times, our mind can be our biggest challenge and obstacle, or it can be our best friend in supporting us to live our happiest life possible. There is a direct correlation between what you think about yourself and the way your life goes.

What is it that you need to understand better about yourself, all those different parts that are all parts of the whole of you? There is much joy to be had in living your best life possible, in your own unique way and to feel happy and healthy in all ways everyday.

Ask yourself, “what can I do for you today, what do you need?”. We all have inner wisdom, just waiting for us to ask and just waiting to provide us with the best possible advice and answers. All answers lie within us, nobody else knows what is truly best for us. We just need to take time to tap into ourselves to receive those answers.

This is one of the ways hypnotherapy sessions can support people, the hypnotherapist is a co-pilot for the client, assisting them to get in touch with their inner self. The client is the pilot. When people get in touch with and have control over their thoughts and emotions, life flows smoothly, and they can navigate any turbulence. Everything is already within each of us, we have all we need. Listening to our intuition is one way of acknowledging this inner wisdom, the knowing part of ourselves.

All our parts had or have a role in supporting us, but the question is whether that part is relevant and positively supporting us presently. Understanding the parts of ourselves and what purpose they were formed can be very insightful. Some of our parts may have been formed from much younger days in our lives and maybe outdated and not congruent with who we are today and how we desire to be tomorrow. Other parts may have formed habits and patterns in those earlier years and changing the role of those parts can support the us in being the best version of who we desire to be.

Learning how to positively feed all the part of ourselves, giving our minds only healthy and kind thoughts will create beneficial and supportive emotions and feelings - allowing the freedom to be in the moment and to be present.
