Many families have asked about holding services and receptions with food at our funeral home. Now, there’s no need to travel elsewhere after a funeral or memorial — everything can happen in one convenient location. This makes it easier for guests to stay longer, giving families more time to connect and hear meaningful stories they might otherwise miss.

There aren’t many options in the area for small to mid-sized receptions, but our space is ideal for gatherings of up to 50 people.

Our goal is to make this time as stress-free as possible. A dedicated family host will take care of everything, and we offer catering through local partners or allow for custom or self-catering options.

With our flexible layout, we can host all kinds of gatherings — from large visitations to small, intimate services — in rooms sized to fit your needs, complete with audio-visual support.

Feel free to visit us — we’d be happy to show you around and answer any questions.

My littles and I have been following how the Walkerton school community has been grieving, and they learned that people have been leaving running shoes at their doors. The teens and teacher's lives had a strong foundation of sports and the strengths and attributes that come with their activities, so these shoes became a powerful symbol of remembrance for those who are grieving Olivia, Rowan, Kaydance, Danica, and Matt.

So we, too, added some to our front entrance, a gesture in memory of the 5 young lives lost in the Walkerton tragedy to align with their community's grief work 3 hours away, but close in heart.

Growing up in a home where death is talked about freely, openly, and very often, they understand things that many their age don’t. They know that death doesn’t wait for old age. That any person, at any time, can be taken from this world.

It’s a hard truth for any young heart, and yes, it brings some anxiety... But we try to meet that with conversations about legacy and acts of good grief -- ways we can honour a life, even in loss. It also brings us an opportunity to recognize the depth and meaning of relationships, to live and love honestly and not take anything or one for granted, make smarter choices, and to 'learn early' the importance of acknowledging our emotions, and leaving everyone with good feelings and kind words.

It’s not always easy or even possible to strike that balance, but I feel it's a necessary learning. And for us, it looked like two pairs of sneakers by the door and some extra I love yous.
