Today I’m continuing with the trainings I signed up for last fall. I completed the Polyvagal Training last week and have started this training on Shame and Self-Loathing with one of my favourites, Dr. Janina Fisher.

It is important for Clinical Counsellors to participate in ongoing education to maintain competence, stay current with evolving practices and research and to meet registration requirements.

Happy New Year!

I bring some good news that effective December 20, 2024 The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has officially confirmed that Registered Clinical Counsellors in BC are now exempt from collecting GST on their psychotherapy services. This means you’ll no longer be charged GST on your sessions, making therapy more affordable and accessible!

If you pre-pay by e-transfer for sessions please be sure to check out the balance owing on your reminder emails to ensure that you are paying the correct amount without the GST tax.

5 Self-Compassion Phrases to Support You in Any Moment ✨
We all face challenging times, but the words we tell ourselves matter.

When you’re in a difficult situation that is causing you stress, ask yourself, “What do I need to hear right now to express kindness to myself?” Try repeating a phrase that speaks to you in your particular situation. Some potentials are:

💖 May I be brave in the face of fear
💖 May I treat myself with kindness
💖 May I love myself just as I am
💖 May I support myself when times are difficult
💖 May I give myself the compassion that I need

In therapy, in order to explore trauma, there are needs that need to be met first. Mental health professionals shouldn't try to engage people with exploring trauma until they have created a space for safety and the client has other needs met.
