👋 hi, I'm Camille, a PostPartum Doula!

I have 4 children under the age of 6 😍 they are the reason I began this exciting and most fulfilling career in caring for mothers and their babies!

I quickly realised, during my first pregnancy, that the modern culture of motherhood was deeply wounded and neglected. Women believed a lie - We (women) can do it all! We didn't need anyone. We are strong and resilient and more than capable of raising children being a wife, having a career, and adventuring with friends. Creating or maintaining a life outside of motherhood but now as a new mother.

While, yes, it is healthy to have hobbies, careers, friendships, and to continue to date your husband, etc. alongside motherhood. BUT It should not be expected to be the same as it was before pregnancy and baby. This expectation is what the culture has brainwashed us women and men to believe.

Pregnancy, the 4th trimester, and the first year of motherhood are sacred. This is the place where you are reborn, recreated, and transforming. This is the soil and seed of a new version of you. Where your husband takes up the role of provider, caregiver, and your support. Your friends and family take the role of being there to hold you in this new space. You are allowed to slow down, take rest, and heal, and yes, even just stop. Stop all the ridiculous expectations you are conditioned to have.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to snap back immediately after childbirth. Instead of slowing down to recreate. Slowing down to live in the moment. Slowing down to heal. Slowing down to care for your baby.

Im a post partum doula because I needed someone to remind me of this season of life as it's meant to be. So that I could release myself of the burdens of snapping back.

Im a Doula to help YOU to live in the moment of this season, to take the burden of maintaining the home, the chores, the tasks that take you away from being in this season. To give you back your time, so you can rest and refresh!

It's a humbling feeling when I am invited into your home. To be immersed in such a vulnerable and exciting time of your family's journey. Through the sensitive transition from the womb into your arms. In the delicate emotional realm of motherhood. Thank you for trusting me :)

This little one is Baby Noah. I met him when he was just 3 weeks old. Supporting mama in this transition from 1 to 2 children, healing from a C-section, and discovering her new juggle. Where time for self seems like a distant memory, I get the extraordinary privilege to give Mama her TIME back to fill up on her self love.

Our ability to nourish and feed our body, mind, soul, and spirit is often naturally forgotten in the 4th trimester. Afterall, you're consumed with a new wonder to discover.

Whether you're a mom who wants to melt away into the treasure beheld in your baby's eyes, the mama who needs the freedom to calm her nervous system, or the mummy who just needs the chores ticked off her to-do list, I'm here to give you back that well deserved TIME and to lend my hands in support.

I had the wonderful pleasure of helping Sonal with her sweet first baby, Vashti. Becoming a mom can be scary because of a lot of the unknowns. However, when you hire a doula our role is to help you see past the worries and postpartum symptoms. Gently guiding you on focusing on your natural maternal instinct. God gave us everything we need within us and through Him - it was beautiful seeing Sonals connection to Holy spirit and her own intuition bloom and flourish. She is a natural and confident Mom.

The small amounts of colostrum your baby gets during the 1st few days allow your baby to learn how to safely coordinate swallowing, breathing and suckling. 1st feeds can be as little as a couple drops of colostrum.

As your baby learns to suckle and extracts more colostrum efficiently, your body will naturally increase the amount colostrum being produced. Consequently, baby's digestive system will expand to accommodate the amount of food being made.

Gradually by day 3-4, your mature milk will begin to come in. By this time, baby is getting better at suckling and your body will listen to baby's demands. By the end of the week, baby can be drinking up to an ounce or 2 a feed. Quite a big leap from a couple drops!

If you are not breastfeeding, you can still request colostrum from your local breastmilk bank. BC Womens hospital has a breastmilk bank in its building! Talk to your pregnancy care provider for more info on how you can get this liquid GOLD for your new born :)

And remember as a doula, I am available to help support your 1st feeds, get you on the right breastfeeding track, and help with any discomfort or anxiety ypu may have!

Your post partum breastfeeding body needs nourishment and hydration. Yet, so many mothers go hours without eating or drinking liquids.

Make hot coffee, only for it to go cold. Quickly chug a glass of water cause you realise you have a headache. Grab sweets, bread, or something convenient to nibble on, exchanging nutrients and taste for convenience and time.

When you hire a Postpartum Doula, you're hiring someone who sees all you do, and helps you along this chaotic yet beautiful journey. We see you sitting there cuddling your newborn not wanting to disturb his sleep, so you sacrifice your breakfast for his comfort. We see you breastfeeding your little one, yourself hungry, but he just fell asleep nestled in your arms. How do you put him down to make yourself something to eat. Not to mention, as soon as you're able, there goes baby calling for mama cuddles again :)

That's where we make you breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Homemade nutrientional food right in your kitchen. In the photo above, I made a protein power snack for our mom. An avocado egg salad, h**p hearts, cucumber and cheese on a buttery wheat cracker, served with some fresh fruit on yogurt and a hot tea! This little snack has 28 grams of protein, healthy fats like Omega 3&6, magnesium, manganese, vitamin B6, iron, and so much more!

When you're fed and hydrated so is your body. And the beautiful work you're doing as a mother is supported with nutrients your hard working body and mind needs! With breastfeeding taking so much out of your body, you need to replenish with both supplements and nutrient dense food.

Mana Mindset Monday

This week our challenge concentrates in honoring ourself through DIGNITY!

Do you have that prideful expectation of respect trying to creep into situations and encounters throughout your day?

Allow yourself to replace that mental & physical response of expecting Respect to be exchanged with knowing your Dignity.

DENY selfish respect & AFFIRM Divine Dignity!!

Remember, neuroplasticity can happen in all situations, at any age & with any behaviour you want to strengthen. The more you do your desired reaction/action/thought the more stronger the pathways between neurons become! You are literally changing yourself into your higher self with each repeated behaviour!
