Our Healthcare system is dismissing, gaslighting and ignoring individuals suffering from Lyme disease and Morgellons disease. It took me over 6 months to be taken seriously. Hospital visit after hospital visit, doctor after doctor, providing timelines, photo evidence, research, not to mention showing clear physical decline; I was told it's "mental health" and looked at as if I was crazy. I was denied tests that would have gotten me access to treatments, instead I was told to "p*e in a cup" because I was more likely to be on drugs then to have lyme disease.
Ignored while suffering with rapid 30lb weight loss, hair loss, bone density and connective tissue damage, vision impairment, cognitive impairment.. I as a medical practitioner myself,of strong character and sureness of lyme being the cause of my suffering , almost gave up hope of ever finding help.
Finally I found a specialist who took my case, my first blood test, which cost almost $3000, verified the presence of now Advanced stage chronic Lyme disease, co-infections and Morgellons disease. All of which could have been avoided if I was listened to. There are people suffering. They need their voices heard.
