Our community-based senior mental health program helps more than 175 older adults every year stay in their homes, maintain their health, and avoid unnecessary hospitalization or long-term care. With services like:
✔️ Help reading mail & understanding paperwork
✔️ Rides & support for appointments
✔️ Grocery help & food security
✔️ Friendly check-ins to reduce isolation
✔️ Eviction Prevention - Hoarding intervention

All of this—for just $2,100 per year per client. Compare that to $3,000+ per month for institutional care.

For those who are curious about the status of the Kelly Ave development, here is your update!

The province purchased 2365 and 2371 Kelly Avenue in Port Coquitlam in June 2021. BC Housing is partnering with New View Society on a proposal to provide approximately 60 new homes on this property for people living with a mental illness. The proposed housing with

The tents and stage going up tonight in preparation for the grand celebration! Begins at 3pm with official welcomes starting at 3:30 with Ron McKinnon, MP, Richard Stewart, Nancy McCurrach Proud Port Coquitlam City Councillor kicking us off with some special celebratory messages. 4pm we will heads into our awards portion and then dinner with Steve The BBQ Guy at 5pm 😋 followed by Emerald Uyi-Osagie brining all the vibes for a night of dancing with her live performance!

The past 50 years have not been possible without our community, our members, families, staff, board directors, funders (Fraser Health, BC Housing, and many other grant providers), and last but not least community donors who assist us in filling in the gaps and having funds available to adapt to our members needs.

The property on Kelly Avenue is not meeting the city's property standards and has had multiple calls for service by police and fire in recent years.

As we wrap up our series, we reflect on the incredible journey that brought us here. From the challenges of downsizing at Riverview hospital in the late 60's and early 70's to the formation of the New View Society on August 13, 1973, we have come a long way in building a community that supports mental health and wellness in Port Coquitlam.

Through the decades, we have seen firsthand the struggles and triumphs of those living with mental illness, as well as the power of community to make a difference. We have grown and evolved, adapting to changing needs and expanding our services to provide the best possible support to those who need it most.

Now, as we celebrate our 50th year of service, we are proud to continue our mission of building community wellness in Port Coquitlam and beyond. We are grateful to all those who have supported us along the way, including our dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners.
