When we talk about concussion recovery, the brain is often the focus, but the whole body plays an important role in how someone feels day to day.

After a concussion, changes in spinal mobility, breathing patterns, and nervous system regulation can contribute to ongoing symptoms like headaches, pressure, or sensory overwhelm.

💜 Supporting the structure and regulation of the body help create a more stable foundation for recovery.

Collaboration in concussion care matters. ✨

Concussion recovery is often treated as a brain issue, but it rarely exists in isolation

Changes in the neck and spine, breathing patterns, digestion, and nervous system regulation can all influence how someone feels after a concussion. When these areas aren't supported together, symptoms may persist even when things appear normal.

A whole body approach helps support recovery more fully.

Many people we see for concussion recovery have already tried multiple things, but still don’t feel like they have a clear plan.

That’s not because you’re doing something wrong.

Concussion symptoms can come from multiple systems working together and when they aren’t addressed as a whole, people often feel stuck.

Understanding why your symptoms are happening is often the first real step forward.

💜 Calm, informed care matters.

Lingering concussion symptoms are more common than most people realize.
Headaches. Brain Fog. Feeling "off".

Often, it's not that recovery isn't happening, it's that the guidance and support haven't been clear or consistent.

This month we're sharing evidence -based education for people navigating concussion recovery, and for caregivers supporting them.

You don't have to figure this out on your own 💜

Brain fog isn't always just a "brain" issue.

During my recent training in manual lymphatic therapy, I completed a case study focused on brain fog. After one session, the participant noticed clearer thinking. Improved energy, less fatigue, and better concentration. An unexpected change was reduced facial swelling, even though that wasn't the treatment goal.

It was a strong reminder of how lymphatic congestion can influence symptoms like brain fog and how athletic therapy can support recovery by looking at the body as a whole.

Everyone responds differently, but education and thoughtful assessment matter.

That foggy, weighed-down feeling?
It's not always neurological.

Gut inflammation, liver metabolism, and nervous system load all influence how clear (or foggy) your brain feels. Particularly after a concussion or prolonged stress.

In our latest episode of the AT & Osteo Chronicles, with .osteopathy and herbalist , we talk through how these systems connect and why supporting the body from the inside out matters.

If you’re wondering what this workshop is actually like, here’s more detail.

This is a small-group, in-person workshop for women whose bodies feel tense, heavy, or braced.
We’ll work in comfortable, supported positions using gentle, hands-on manual therapy and simple decompression techniques to help the body settle.

Nothing is forced. Everything is optional.
Plenty of space to rest.

I’m hosting a gentle, body-based workshop on January 25 for women whose bodies feel tense, heavy, or constantly braced.

This isn’t about pushing, fixing, or trying harder.
It’s a slower, supported space to help the body settle and feel lighter again.

A tense, weighed-down body is often a sign of a nervous system under stress.

Diaphragmatic breathing helps decompress the body by reducing internal pressure, not by forcing relaxation.

Gentle input allows the body to stop bracing and soften again 🌿

We'll be practicing this in From Overwhelmed to Grounded Workshop.

If your body feels tense or weighed down, pushing harder usually isn’t the answer.
When the nervous system is already stressed, the body stays in protective mode.
In that state, rest doesn’t always feel restful and stretching doesn’t always release tension.

🌿 Gentle regulation gives the body signals of safety so it can soften again.
This is the foundation of how I work, and what we’ll be practicing in From Overwhelmed to Grounded : A woman's reset. 💜
