Sore Today, Strong Tomorrow 💪

It’s completely normal to feel a little sore after your physio or chiro appointment — especially if you’ve started new exercises or your body’s adjusting to treatment. That mild discomfort? It’s often a sign your muscles are being activated and your body is beginning to move in new, healthier ways. 🙌

Here’s what to keep in mind:
✔️ Some soreness is expected
✔️ Stay hydrated, move gently, and don’t skip your home exercises
✔️ Rest when needed, but keep the momentum going
✔️ If you feel sharp or lingering pain, reach out — we’re here to help

Progress isn’t always comfortable, but it’s worth it. Stick with it — your future self will thank you. 💥

🎣 Gone fishing! Well, most of us... 🐟

We’re casting off for the long weekend! The clinic will have limited availability on Friday, August 1st, with Connor and Justine on deck for pre-booked appointments. 🎣🗓️

We'll be completely closed from Saturday through Monday (August 2–4), reeling it back in on Tuesday, August 5th.

We had two incredible competitors out in action this past weekend — showing off their spirit and representing our community like champs!

Cam, Laura’s son, took part in the Cardboard Boat Race during the Marine Heritage Festival in Southampton. Armed with nothing but cardboard, tape, and determination (plus his trusty BCCR hat 🧢), Cam helped build and paddled his boat solo through the course. The Marine Heritage Festival is a fantastic community event that brings friendly competition, creativity, and laughter to the waterfront every year! Way to go Cam!

Tori, one of our awesome PTAs from the gym, tackled the 5K Foam Fest — a high-energy obstacle course filled with mud, foam, and fun challenges! She powered through walls, slides, rope ladders, and foam pits, all while helping raise money for an amazing cause — Make-A-Wish Canada 💪

Last week we had our staff meeting and our annual staff golf party — and let’s just say, we know how to mix business with fun! 💼➡️🏌️‍♀️

We’re all about teamwork, positive vibes, and supporting each other — in and out of the clinic. The highlight? The Time Travellers Cup ⏳ — a team golf tournament where each group dressed from a different era! Everyone had a blast, and it was the perfect reminder that when you work with great people, everything’s more fun. 💛

🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️ What a weekend at the Lakeshore Women’s Triathlon in Port Elgin! The event took place along the shores of Lake Huron, where athletes swam, biked, ran, and powered through the course with grit and great weather on their side.

Our team — Laura, Lindsay, Connor, Justine, and Jess — were proud to be on-site, providing support to participants with injury care, taping, and recovery assistance throughout the day. Big shoutout to Laura who kept the energy high as one of the announcers!

A huge congratulations to all the incredible athletes who took part. We're already looking forward to next year! 💪☀️

🧠✨ Clinic Rounds: Spinal Stenosis & Shockwave Therapy! 💥

Each month, our team dives into a new topic to sharpen our skills and stay at the top of our game 💪 — and this month was all about Spinal Stenosis and our newly upgraded Shockwave Therapy machine!

🦴 What is Spinal Stenosis?
Spinal stenosis is the narrowing of spaces in the spine, often causing pressure on the spinal cord or nerves. It can lead to pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness — especially in the lower back or neck. But the good news? There are lots of ways to manage it! Laura and Tristan shared with us key takeaways from their course with Dr. Carlo Ammendolia, covering hands-on techniques and evidence-based treatment protocols.

💥We’re also excited to have a new shockwave machine at the clinic. Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing process to help reduce pain.

Your body is made up of approximately 60% water, and staying hydrated helps with digestion, temperature regulation, joint health, and even skin glow! 🌟

👉 How much water do you need each day? – An easy calculation is to drink half your body weight in ounces. This can vary depending on your activity level, age, and environment, but is a great starting point!

Both standing and sitting occupations have been linked to low back, neck, and leg pain, but using a combination of these two positions with a sit-to-stand desk can actually help improve pain symptoms and even boost your mood 🙌

✅ Whether you’re sitting or standing, remember:
🔹 Keep a neutral spine
🔹 Elbows at a 90° angle to your keyboard and mouse
🔹 Screen at eye level

A little movement goes a long way for your health! If you don’t have a sit to stand desk, remember to take breaks throughout the work day to stretch your legs!
