The Test of Visual Processing Skills (TVPS) is used to understand how an individual is able to process visual information in their brain. This test has 7 different aspect of visual processing that it tests:
-Visual Discrimination - the ability to determine exact characteristics and distinctive features among similar objects or forms.
-Visual Memory - the ability to remember (for immediate recall) the characteristics of a given object or form after seeing it for a brief moment.
-Spatial Relations - the ability to analyze, visualize and maneuver visual objects in space and distinguish differences among similar objects or forms.
-Form Constancy - the ability to recognize an object’s shape regardless of its size, shape or orientation, and to mentally manipulate forms and visualize outcomes.
-Visual Sequential Memory - the ability to recall words, numbers, objects, patterns, and actions in the correct order.
-Figure Ground - the ability to perceive and locate an object from the background or surrounding objects.
-Visual Closure - the ability to visualize a whole figure when given incomplete, or fragmented, information.
