Strait Area Women's Place

Strait Area Women's Place Drop In Women's Centre-We offer services/programs to all women. You do not need a reason to visit!!! We believe women are experts of their own lives.

We welcome women from from the wider Strait area, women from different community organizations and groups, educators, and students from our local high schools, community college, and universities. Women's place services include: Information, one-to-one problem solving and emotional support, advocacy, accompaniment to court (or other legal or medical appointments), referrals, and a wide array of programming in collaboration with Public Health and Addiction Services. We are a drop in center, so come by for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat. The Strait Area Women's Place can provide you with information and support so you can be more informed. Confidentiality is respected!

We are inviting nominations for women from Inverness and Richmond County who make a difference in the lives of others.

✨ Nominees will be put into a random draw, and the winners will be honoured with a beautiful 3-course meal.
📍 The celebration will take place in St. Peter’s.

Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day in Canada.

Human trafficking has impacted far too many Nova Scotians, for far too long. It targets the most vulnerable and has no place in our province.

That’s why we have, and will continue to, invest and do the work necessary to end this plague. From increasing counselling services for survivors of human trafficking through the Criminal Injuries Counselling Program, adding to the team of crown prosecutors who specialize in human trafficking, creating The Minister's Table on Gender Based Violence, and historic investments into Transition Houses, our government is committed to action on ending human trafficking.

Working with survivors, frontline workers, community partners, and advocates, we are taking an all of government and all of society approach to ensure Nova Scotians are safe, and supported.

This is about listening. Learning. And taking action. One life impacted by human trafficking is too many.
