Another great season in the books!! The fun we had this year was off the charts. To the families of both teams I had the privilege of being involved with this year, thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your player's hockey journey. I couldn't be more proud of how hard these young athletes worked and I wish them all the best in their future athletic endeavors. Also super proud of our 4-year-old for hanging with the big kids this year. To my good friend , coaching a whole season together in two separate leagues was made a lot easier by the collaboration and shared dedication to the players we both shared. I couldn't ask for a better coaching partner. Finally, the biggest thanks has to go to for being the Hockey Mom of the Year!! Carrying 3 kids around to different rinks while I get to enjoy the benefits and rewards of coaching can seem like a thankless job, but she was happy to do it, and none of this could have happened without her tireless dedication to our family. ❤️ 🏒

The YMCA Strong Kids Duathlon was extra special this year because we had two of our kids participating. Part of the proceeds from this event will fund swimming lessons and lifeguard training for the community. Thank you to all the other volunteers who gave their time and energy to make this an incredible showcase for these young athletes. 💪🏽❤️

TEMPORARY CLOSURE
OPEN FOR EMERGENCY CARE

Hi folks,

As most of you know, my practice is temporarily closed in accordance with the current recommendations for social distancing.

However, exceptions can be made if you are experiencing an emergency and require care. Keeping emergency patients that can be seen by a chiropractor out of our hospitals is another way that we can help 'flatten the curve'.

Examples of an emergency situation include:

- a sudden or debilitating change in walking, standing, sitting, lifting, or stair climbing

- significant restrictions experienced during bending/twisting, repetitive movement, or pushing/pulling

- injury to the head/neck/back and extremities

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms above please email me at dr.kim@porthopehealthcentre.com and I will arrange a time to see you.

I hope that you and your families are doing okay in this current situation. We're all in this together, and if there's anything I can do to help at this time, please do not hesitate to ask.

My wife had an amazing pregnancy. However, sometimes pregnancy just sucks. Having back pain in the pre and post-natal period is one of those times.

Aches and pains during pregnancy are common, but the good news is you don't have to just put up with it. A combination of chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy and pregnancy-safe rehab exercises can make all the difference in the world during this 40 week marathon.

My recommendation is to seek out an evidence-based chiropractor with additional training and experience in dealing with pre and post-natal populations. Webster-certified docs are a good place to start. However, remember that it's not the certification or the letters that equal good care. Quality care is a practitioner that focuses on you as an individual and tailors their treatment to your specific needs.
