These are things that I do everyday to keep my mental health in check ✔️.

I have a propensity for anxiety & when I forget to set boundaries, move outside in nature, practice being in my body, then I am more likely to get caught up in the struggle rather than the surrender.

Unpopular opinion - you are probably the problem.

Relationships mirror us all the places in our nervous system that are out of balance. They are invitations for growth. Not all relationships will continue forever. But there is always something to learn from them.

Our culture is deep in the “I feel this” so it must be true. This leads us astray and toward unhappiness if we always follow our feelings.

Relationships are uncomfortable (obviously this is different than abuse) and are meant to be.

If we could simply will ourselves out of trauma, there would be no problems in the world. And no need for counsellors 🙃.

No one wants to feel stuck or depressed or anxious. These are patterns our body is running out of habit usually.

Body based therapies (like yoga therapy or EMDR) can offer our nervous system an alternate pathway forward.

I use yoga and meditation to explore this but there are lots of options. If traditional talk therapy isn’t doing the trick, you may need something else.

Your nervous system needs to be shown a way through. You will heal and adapt!

This is one of my all time favourite poems. Life is full of tough moments but when the joy arrives, be in it. So often we are living in the past or future and we miss out on the precious moments of joy.

Some things that I am doing to be more present in 2024:
- more intentional screen time for myself
- prayer/meditation daily
- presence at meal times especially with my family
- chewing my food slowly and carefully
