A Team

A Team The A Team's mission is to advocate for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.

The A Team was established in 2004 and is a group of self advocates and staff advisors who advocate on behalf of persons with intellectual disabilities. The A Team is actively involved in the community; volunteering at bingo, attending conferences, making presentations on leadership and social capital, earning revenue at community events through the hot dog cart and planning the A Team yearly conference. The advocates and staff are passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities and connecting them to their community through meaningful employment, real homes and social connection.

December 3rd is International Day of people with disabilities.

CLDN’S self-advocate group: The ATEAM works hard to educate community members that people with disabilities are entitled to a full and enriched life.

This includes access to education, employment, healthcare, and community activities.

The ATEAM works to break down barriers faced by individuals with disabilities. These barriers often come from preconceived ideas and assumptions about their abilities and potential to succeed.
By challenging stereotypes and misinformation, ATEAM is building a more inclusive and equitable community where everyone belongs.

ATEAM executive members Niko Pupella and Amber Taylor has been working hard on their self-advocate roles within Community Living Ontario.
Newly Elected CLO President Amber, alongside Vice President Niko, recently had the pleasure of meeting with Minister Michael Parsa while at Queens Park. The pair demonstrated their passion to advocate while taking part in Kerry’s Place Advocacy day at the Legislature.

The ATEAM Executive is also proud to announce the addition of our member William Hulme to the CLO Youth Advisory Board.
We look forward to seeing what great advocacy and inclusion skills the Youth Advisory Board brings forth this year.
