Change isn't always my friend but I'm embracing it. Every so often I feel the need for change and sometimes struggle with bringing my vision forth. This time is a little different....

I've already started to plan and prepare a new service in my private practice. In the near year, I'll be offering supervision and consultation to other therapists working with complicated families impacted by intergenerational trauma. Wanna join me?

Hey friends! I'm supporting my friend Alanna in recruiting for her dissertation study. It is based on measuring psychological safety! Very important for therapists and clients!

Hello All,
Thank you so much for reading this! My name is Alanna Barnes, and I am currently enrolled in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program (Psy.D.) at Chaminade University. I am seeking participants for my dissertation research study. My study aims to create a novel measure of psychological safety. This measure would be used in the psychotherapeutic setting to assess if a client/patient perceives their therapist to have created a psychologically safe environment. To participate, I am asking for individuals to complete an anonymous ten-minute survey. There will also be a raffle for one of three $50 Visa gift cards for any participant who would be comfortable sharing their email address. The email address will be kept confidential and only used for the raffle. Upon the completion of the raffle, all email addresses will be deleted.
To qualify as a participant, here are my inclusion criteria:
Must be over the age of 18
Must be located within the United States
Must be English-speaking
Must be currently receiving psychotherapy from a licensed mental health professional OR it has been less than a year from your most recent session with a licensed mental health professional
At the time of the study, one must have completed at least two sessions with a licensed mental health professional
If you know someone or a group that would be interested in taking this survey, please forward. Lastly, if you qualify to participate and want to participate, please use this link: https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLSd9KDbgV.../viewform
This study was approved by the Chaminade IRB on September 30th, 2024 with Protocol Number: CUH 449 2024.

We can't always predict when life will challenge us or when others will create difficulties. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and become reactive when we face unexpected adversity. However, there are times when this difficult experience is necessary to see things clearly. Clarity in our relationships, practice, and business is essential for growth—and growth isn't always comfortable!

Are you ready to take your Intergenerational Trauma Therapy practice to the next level?

Specialization in treating intergenerational trauma creates a unique and deep healing space for your clients. In this space, they experience increased self-understanding, attunement, and shame as they build the skills necessary to have securely attached relationships.

Are you interested in specializing in Intergenerational Trauma Therapy? DM me and I'll help you get started!

The Courageous Way is an intervention program for treating complex families impacted by intergenerational trauma.

Phase 1 of the intervention is based on calming the family nervous system through improved autonomic regulation, self-attunement, coregulation with family, and increased earned secure attachment.

In the most recent Phase 1 workshop I provided, these were the benefits:

1. Parents began to understand Polyvagal Theory and autonomic dysregulation in the family system as a foundation for healing.

2. Their sense of shame decreased as negative coping strategies were explored as an adaptive trauma response at the time of the trauma.

3. Self-regulation and self-attunement increased the parents' capacity for coregulation with their children and increased attachment.

4. Parents were provided with strategies to further increase coregulation, attachment, and connection, as well as an increased understanding of developmental trauma.

5. Mindful parenting steps based on autonomic regulation and increasing attachment provided a framework for addressing problem behavior.

6. Many participants experienced a "weight" being lifted off, decreased negative self-beliefs, and an increased sense of self-attunement and awareness.

The individual capacity for healing is so powerful as clients begin to walk The Courageous Way!

Building a successful career as a therapist is more than gathering titles and awards.

The specializations we have provide a space for deeper and sacred healing. This is more important than any title or award.
