Clarity isn’t always clean.

A clear mind. A clear direction. Everything figured out.

More often, it looks a little like this.

In-between seasons.
A bit messy.
Things shifting before they fully make sense.

Clarity doesn’t always arrive polished.
Sometimes it shows up in the middle of what’s beginning to come into view.

This is often where the work begins.

There’s a pace to rural life that often goes unspoken.

The constant thinking ahead.
The responsibility.
The seasons that don’t wait.

And somewhere in all of that…
it’s easy to lose track of yourself.

That’s part of why I created Spring Pasture Circles.

A space to step away from the pace for a few hours.
To spend time outside, with the horses.
To slow things down and notice what’s been sitting just under the surface.

No pressure.
No expectation.
A different kind of space to reconnect with yourself.

I currently have a couple spaces filled in both my morning and evening groups, and I’ll be keeping the circles small.

If this has been on your mind, you’re welcome to take a closer look.

There’s a whole side of my life that doesn’t often make it onto this page.

Alongside the coaching work I do with people and horses, I’m also part of the Douglas Bull & Female Development Center.

Sale weekend is full. Long days, good cattle, and a whole lot of people coming together to make it all happen.

It’s a different kind of work…
and it’s rooted in the same place.

Agriculture.
Community.
And a deep respect for the life we’re part of.

And in many ways, it’s this life that shapes how I hold space for others who join the horses and I in the roundpen.

Horses notice things about us
that we don’t always say out loud.

The way we carry ourselves.
The tension we’re holding.
The places where we’re trying to keep everything together.

They don’t respond to what we think we should be.

They respond to what is actually there.

Sometimes that’s the first time someone realizes how much they’ve been carrying.

Not because anyone pointed it out.

Simply because the horses met them in a way that made it visible.

There’s something about that kind of honesty that creates space for things to shift.

There’s something about having a space to step away from the pace of everyday life for a while.

No pressure to figure anything out.
No expectation to have the right words.

Only time.
Space.
And the quiet presence of the horses.

Over the past while, I’ve had the opportunity to witness what can unfold for people in that kind of environment.

Sometimes it’s clarity.
Sometimes it’s simply a breath they didn’t realize they needed.
Sometimes it’s a moment of feeling more like themselves again.

This spring, I’ll be opening a couple of small Spring Pasture Circles beginning April 22.

These are small, intentional groups designed to offer that kind of space through guided, experiential time with the horses.

If this feels like something that speaks to you, I’d be happy to connect and share more.

There’s a moment that happens sometimes in the pasture.

People arrive carrying the pace of their day with them. The thinking. The doing. The constant moving forward.

And then… something begins to slow.

A horse will often walk over and stand quietly beside them.

No direction.
No expectation.
No need to explain anything.

Only presence.

It’s in those moments that people often notice something they hadn’t had space to see before.

Not because anyone pointed it out.

Simply because the space allowed it.

That’s often where the work begins.

This is the kind of space we create in the pasture.

Strong people carry a lot…
and they don’t always have a place to set it down.

This time of year on the farm always brings quiet reminders about beginnings.

Over the past few days we’ve welcomed a few brand new calves into the world. Watching them find their feet beside their mothers is something that never gets old.

Those first wobbly steps.
The quiet instinct of the cow staying close.
Life beginning again in its own steady rhythm.

Moments like that naturally slow you down.

They remind us that growth rarely happens all at once. It unfolds over time. Through small steps, patience, and space.

I notice something similar when people spend time in the pasture with the horses.

When the pace of everyday life softens for a while, people often begin noticing things they hadn’t had space to see before. Sometimes that’s where something new begins.

Spring seems to have a way of inviting those kinds of reflections.

This spring I’ll be opening a couple of small Pasture Circles beginning April 22, for those who feel drawn to spend time in that kind of space with the horses.

For now though, we’re simply enjoying the season of new life here on the farm.

Winter doesn’t stop everything.
I’ve been noticing how easily the horses move between effort and ease ~ even on cold, bright days like this.
I’ll be sharing a February newsletter and Quiet letter soon, rooted in winter, rhythm and listening.

A new year doesn’t ask us to rush.
It invites us to arrive ~ steady, present, and grounded.
Horses don’t force what isn’t ready.
They feel the ground beneath them before moving forward.
As this year begins, may we take our cue from them
soft eyes, steady breath, and trust in our next step.
Here’s to 2026.
Calm. Grounded. Guided by what truly matters. ✨

I’ve created something I’ve been wanting to offer for a while now.
I’m calling them Quiet Letters.
They’re thoughtful, occasional emails for people who carry a lot — responsibility, pressure, the mental load of life , often quietly. They’re shaped by agricultural and rural life, and they tend to resonate with anyone who’s looking for a steadier, gentler way forward.
These letters aren’t about fixing or pushing.
They’re an invitation to pause, notice, and carry a little less.
If this feels like something that would support you, you’re welcome to join the list.
You’ll receive a short series of letters to begin, followed by occasional reflections shared with care.
https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/y5igYqY/Quietletterseries or on my website to receive the Quiet Letters.

If the horses can roll in the snow, so can I!
A reminder that joy, laughter, and letting loose—even for a moment—are good medicine.
