Pickleball is growing fast — and so is our love for the game.
If you’re playing more often this summer, here’s how to help your body keep up.

💡 Tips for staying healthy on the court:
- Ease into play if you’re new or returning
- Add rest days between sessions early on
- Build up gradually (more days or longer games over time)
- Support your game with light strength work — especially for shoulders, knees, and ankles
- Listen to your body — a little soreness is normal, but pain is a sign to pause

Staying consistent with small habits now helps you enjoy more time on the court all season long. 🏓☀️

A weekend of sunshine—perfect excuse to hit the course!⛳️

A round of 9 holes while walking can add up to over 6,000 steps and around 4 to 5 kilometers of movement. Not bad for something that doesn’t necessarily *feel* like exercise.

Plus, that golf swing? It actually involves coordinated movement from your hips, core, and shoulders—great for mobility and staying active.🏌️‍♂️

Whether it’s your first round of the year or just an excuse to be outside, your body (and mind) will thank you.

Get Out & Explore Manitoba’s Trails!

Looking for a fun (and free!) way to move your body and clear your mind? Hit the trails! Manitoba is full of beautiful spots to hike, walk, or just wander — and summer is the perfect time to enjoy them.

Hiking boosts your energy, lifts your mood, and helps you stay active without hitting the gym. Plus… nothing beats that fresh prairie air and peaceful forest vibes.

Some popular local trails:
📍 Birds Hill Park
📍 Assiniboine Forest
📍 Pinawa Trail
📍 Spirit Sands at Spruce Woods
📍 FortWhyte Alive

Tip: To avoid post-hike aches, try a few stretches before you hit the trail — and take time to cool down with gentle movements after. Stay hydrated and take breaks as needed. Enjoy the scenery. If something still doesn’t feel right, we’re here to help you keep inMotion!

Bring water, snacks and wear good shoes.

Let us know your favorite Manitoba trails!

Hot Days Call for Hydration!
As the temperatures rise, so does the risk of dehydration! Whether you're working, playing, or just relaxing outside, it's essential to keep your body hydrated.

💧Why hydration matters:
Regulates your body temperature
Keeps joints lubricated
Prevents fatigue, headaches, and dizziness
Supports healthy skin and digestion

✅ Quick tips:
Carry a reusable water bottle everywhere
Add fresh fruit or herbs for a flavor boost
Eat water-rich foods like cucumbers, watermelon, and oranges
Avoid too much caffeine or alcohol—they dehydrate you faster!

Listen to your body and drink before you feel thirsty. Stay safe, stay cool, and drink up!

Groin pain isn’t always what it seems🤔

While it’s often blamed on a pulled muscle, that’s not always the case. Sometimes, pain in this area can be related to the hip joint itself, or even referral from the lower back.

If you notice that certain back positions or movements affect your groin symptoms, there’s a good chance the low back is playing a role.

Understanding where the discomfort is coming from is the first step toward managing it effectively. If it’s been lingering or hard to figure out, it’s worth getting assessed to help clarify what’s really going on!

Owen’s home, feeling refreshed and excited to be back in the clinic after 3 weeks in Japan. His trip included stops in Tokyo, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Osaka and Kawaguchiko. Highlights included the endless fresh fish and sushi, the beautiful sights and temples spread throughout the country.
He’s excited to be back to treating his patients at Quarry Physiotherapy in Stonewall and helping them get back InMotion. If you need to make an appointment to see Owen, reach out to the clinic at 204-467-9101 or book online!
