Alright, it's time to get back to graduation videos with a heavy hitter, Antony!!!

Antony is a natural leader, very dedicated to his recovery, and is a very hardworking individual with strong morals. He impressed us all and we were grateful to know that he will be the house manager at the new sober living house opening soon.

Great job Antony! ❤️

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved alumni and friend Harry K. 😢

Harry grew up in Pender Harbour, his father was a fisherman and mom was a waitress. He was one of six kids. Harry was a logger out of highschool and loved fishing whenever he could. He was also a very gifted artist, both with paints and wood work.

He came to us in June of last year and was a wonderful person to have with us. He utilized our wood shop to create works of art that he made out of wood burls. After completing the program, he made the wise choice of attending sober living to step slowly back into life.

Just weeks ago, Harry got out on the ocean and did some prawn fishing at one of his secret spots near Saltery Bay. Being the big hearted guy that he is, he shared his prawns with our counsellor Frani, who was his personal counsellor while in treatment.

Harry had just recently decided to move back to Pender Harbour where he grew up. He spoke of spending more time with his daughter and adopted son in the future and looked forward to getting a sail boat so he could spend time on the water.

Tragically, a few weeks ago, Harry was hit by a vehicle while biking in the lower Sunshine Coast and sustained severe injuries. Being the strong guy that he is, he fought bravely for 12 days, but the damage was so severe that he couldn't come back from it. Harry passed away yesterday with his daughter Cassidy by his side.

All of the Miklat staff send our love to his family who are grieving his loss. Rest in Peace Harry, we love you!! ❤️

We were pleasantly surprised today by Oceanside Entertainment/High Tide Games and Karyne Bailey for donating $1000 to Miklat!! What a generous gift! They collected donations throughout March for Miklat. ❤️

The Miklay guys had no idea, they were just enjoying browsing through the store when all of a sudden Karyne comes out with a big donation for us. Gotta love her huge heart.

Thank you. 😊❤️

This Easter season, we take a moment to reflect on themes that are shared across many traditions — renewal, hope, compassion, and love for one another.

For those who observe Easter, the story of Jesus is a powerful reminder of sacrifice, forgiveness, and the possibility of new life. Across cultures and beliefs, this time of year invites us all to reconnect with what matters most: caring for one another, supporting healing, and believing in transformation.

At Miklat Recovery, we witness every day that change is possible. People rebuild, rediscover purpose, and move forward with strength and dignity — supported by community and compassion.

However you celebrate this season, may it bring you peace, renewed hope, and a sense of connection to others.

Warm Easter wishes from all of us at the Miklat Recovery Program. 🌱💛

There’s something powerful about giving back to the people who have quietly supported you for years.

Today, our Miklat crew had the opportunity to lend a hand to the Powell River Healthcare Auxiliary as they moved a massive truckload of donated items into their new space. What started as “just helping out” quickly turned into a couple of sweaty, hard-working hours of hauling bags, lifting boxes, and sharing laughs—done with genuine appreciation.

The Healthcare Auxiliary has stood behind Miklat in ways that have made a real difference in people’s lives. From essential equipment like commercial laundry machines, medication safes, dish sanitizers, fridges, and freezers—to something as simple yet meaningful as clothing packages for new clients arriving in treatment—they’ve been there, time and time again.

So when the chance came to support them, it wasn’t a question—it was an honour.

This is what community looks like. People showing up for each other. Volunteers giving their time to raise funds that directly support healthcare services in Powell River. Quiet acts of generosity that ripple outward and change lives.

To the Powell River Healthcare Auxiliary: thank you for everything you do. Your impact reaches further than you may ever see, and today we were proud to give a little bit back.
