🎓 Congratulations Drew T.! 🎓

Today we celebrate a truly one-of-a-kind graduate — our friend, our brother, and an unforgettable presence here at Miklat Recovery.

Drew is the kind of guy whose intelligence hits you right away — sharp, thoughtful, and grounded in a way that makes every conversation meaningful. Add in his quick wittiness, his ability to speak his mind with honesty and clarity, and his genuine appreciation for recovery, and you’ve got someone who leaves an impact on everyone around him.

He put the hard work in. He showed up. He pushed through the tough days. And now he stands here, not just completing the program, but owning his journey with pride, humility, and heart.

And then there’s the accent…

Is it English?
Is it Spanish?
No one knows. Not even Drew. We’ve decided it’s officially “International Man of Recovery.”

To celebrate him properly, here’s a classic English joke to honour… whatever accent that is:

Today, we pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served—and those who continue to serve—so that we may live in peace and freedom.

At Miklat Recovery, we are reminded that healing, recovery, and community are possible because of the selflessness of others. We hold deep gratitude for every life touched by service, and we remember those who never came home.

Here's our Brad C graduation video from June that somehow got missed while people were on holidays. (Sorry Brad) ❤️🎂

Brad is an incredible guy, very down to earth, hard working, honest, and easy going. As you can tell by the other clients, Brad was loved and respected while in treatment. He did an excellent job as the monitor, which often is a difficult position to take.

Brad is a local boy who has since moved on to second stage sober living, working full time but still finding time to stop by and spend time with the guys. He also spoke at the grand opening of the Arbutus building in Townsite. He's quite the guy, we love him very much!!!! ❤️ 🎉

As you step inside the new Miklat Recovery Arbutus Facility, you’ll find a plaque proudly displayed at the entrance — a symbol of generosity, hope, and community spirit.

Each name engraved upon it represents someone who believed in the power of recovery, who saw potential in transformation, and who helped make this beautiful space a reality.

To our funders and partners — the Ronald S. Roadburg Foundation, Blenheim Foundation, Powell River Community Forest, The Illahie Foundation, qathet Regional Hospital District, Province of British Columbia, Canadian Mental Health Association BC Division, City of Powell River, and all the families, businesses, and individuals listed — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 💛
