Martina was first introduced to meditation in 2003 to relax and release muscle tension and pain. Wanting to increase flexibility and improve muscle tone Martina turned to Yoga. A gentle non-evasive way to manage and control her ongoing chronic back problem. A compassionate and caring person by nature, sharing the gift of Yoga became a natural part of her journey. Martina received her 200-hour Hath

a RYT Certification in 2014, and is operating Y Knot Yoga. A mobile yoga studio located in the Historic Fort Town of Prescott Ontario. Martina is currently teaching regular scheduled classes at The Prescott Health Centre. Understanding the misconceptions behind it, Martina wants to change your perception of Yoga. Whether a beginner or advanced level student, Martina's classes will leave you feeling invigorated, refreshed and relaxed. Martina is a knowledgeable, inspiring and motivating teacher that invites students to explore their body with breath. Her sunny disposition and gentle guidance encourages you to explore the Art of Yoga with an open mind, helping you to escape for a brief moment and settle into the practice with a peaceful heart. Wherever you are in your Yoga practice, Martina invites you to challenge yourself at your own level, empowering and inspiring you to find peace and comfort with every breath. You may not think you have time for Yoga, but Yoga gives you time.

It is always nice to go away, but it is always nice to come back home .
Summer always offers so much within the longer days , the warmer weather and a barrage of activities that keep you in a constant cycle of movement
As we enter into the second half of this glorious summer weather with the longer days, the brightness of the sun, the increased speed and stimulation . Quite often you can find yourself feeling a little overwhelmed, even though happiness, light and love surround us.
Our bodies are constantly going through cycles through doing, resting and countless activities . Regardless of the fact that summer is the best time of the year, it can actually cause havoc on the parasympathetic nervous system. Within the vibrancy of the season and the constant flow of busy schedules, ridiculous temperatures, and unexpected changes. You may actually start to notice tightness in your chest or belly, shallow breathing, trouble, sleeping digestive issues or even a sense of being pulled in many different directions.
That is exactly when a yoga class can come in handy . When you take the time to make a conscious effort for yourself and enter into a space that emits the feeling of being supported. It sends a signal to the brain that it is safe to relax. If relaxing is something that you’re looking for, I invite you to join me for our next 6 week session , which begins Wednesday, July 23- Saturday August 27.
Registration begins now, sign up early to save your space!

No Yoga classes this week!
Classes resuming May 14
Namaste
As Spring descends upon us at a remarkable pace, it is finally time to thaw from winter's harsh reluctant grasp on us. As we explode into the radiant colours of Spring we are invited to seek more energy boosting practices. It is within the extended days of Spring that we are reminded of how intricately intertwined we are to the seasons. Much like the seasons we are designed to expand, soften and connect.
As the weather has shifted from warm to cool to damp, to warm to cool back to damp, perhaps leaving some of you feeling a bit under the weather. Tap into the earth's bounty of health and wellness, get outside or open your windows with the addition of vitamins C, D, Zinc, Echinacea, wormwood, green teas and ginger you may help deter some of the symptoms. Tapping your thymus muscle (middle of your chest) a few times a day can help boost your immunity, the tried and true chicken noodle soup and orange juice may also help. There really is so much we can do to help build an arsenal of defence that may minimize the symptoms and could even prevent flu and colds. Much of our Yoga practice is based on 5 Basic principles, proper relaxation, proper exercise, proper breathing, proper diet and positive thinking and meditation. You don't even need to practice Yoga on a daily basis BUT implementing 1 or 5 of these basic principles daily could have a substantial impact on your quality of life and may help decrease the longevity or severity of flu and cold. We have so much power over our bodies, mind and spirit; our Yoga practice reminds us of that.
The season is quietly beckoning us to embark on more energy building sequences, my hope is that you will join me as we relax, restore, revitalize, perhaps, connecting fully and completely to what your body needs.
Next Session begins Wednesday May 14-June 21
