Ash Wednesday: A Journey Back to the Heart
Today, on Ash Wednesday, we begin the sacred season of Lent—a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that calls us back to what truly matters. As ashes are placed upon our foreheads, we are reminded of our human fragility and God’s endless mercy: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Lent invites us not into discouragement, but into hope. It is a season of renewal, a chance to slow down, to listen more closely to God, and to open our hearts to healing and transformation. Through simple acts of sacrifice and generosity, we grow in compassion for one another and deepen our trust in the Lord.
At Catholic Family Services of Prince Albert, we walk with individuals and families every day on journeys of restoration, dignity, and hope. This Lent, may we all be renewed in our commitment to love, serve, and care for one another—especially those who are struggling or feel alone.
Let us begin this holy season together, asking God to create in us clean hearts and to lead us more fully into lives rooted in faith, mercy, and love.
“Return to me with all your heart.” (Joel 2:12)
May this Lent draw us closer to Christ and to one another. 🙏
