I just love this picture so much.

This is me nursing my daughter. She was almost a year old here, and she was still full-time nursing at this point. She was slow to be interested in solid foods. Nursing wasn't easy for us at first, but it got easier as she got bigger. It took a lot of work and perseverance, but once we really got going she stuck with it.
I've always said she was a ni**le snob because she refused to take any kind of pacifier or bottle, and would only be soothed or fed by me. It had its challenges and joys. It was great to be able to have milk on tap and just be able to sit and feed her wherever we were, but it was hard being her main comfort point and never being able to be away from her for long.
I did allow her to continue breastfeeding until she was naturally ready to ween, and for her that was after she was 3.

This is in no way meant to be judgemental or comment on anyone else's experience. I'm just sharing our experience. 🩷
Keep up the good work moms, however your feeding journey goes it is valid and I know you're all doing the best you can.

Brand new addition to my lending library. "Not Your Mother's Postpartum Book" by Caitlin slavens and Chelsea Bodie.

This book looks like. Really fantastic resource and a look at modern motherhood and so many of the challenges and issues that arise for us as parents. Some of these are things that have always been an issue and no one really wanted to talk about, some of them are new to modern mothering, and some are hot button topics that people are sometimes scared to bring up.

Let's work together to normalize post partum however it looks for you. Let's talk about the things that bother us, that hurt, that we need help with. Let's be together in these hard times. Let's be vulnerable and ask for help from each other. You don't have to be alone.

If you're interested in reading this book let me know.

Books in my lending library. Available for my clients to borrow. Please reach out if you're interested.
#1 There are Mums Way Worse Than You.
Sometimes you just need to see how nature is doing worse than you. This book is written in a light hearted manner to give some light hearted reassurance that you are doing a good job.
#2 Good Mom's Have Scary Thoughts
This book gives quick and easy, bite size encouragements. It can help to identify some postpartum issues and to help parents feel reassured that just because you have scary thoughts, doesn't make you a bad parent.
#3 What About Us?
This book is again written in short pieces that are easy to read, about how to re-establish your relationship and care for each other in the postpartum period.

Side note, I have not been active on social media. It's so hard for me to keep up with making posts. I wanted to make this prettier, but ultimately decided to just go ahead and post it.

Sometimes you just gotta move. As the baby moves down into the pelvis there can be some discomfort and pain. But keeping mobile and stretching and moving as your body tells you to can be so helpful.
This momma was so in tune with her body; moving, stretching, squatting and taking breaks, to drink tea and have contractions. It was lovely to watch.

The hospital gown Rainbow is wearing was bought
She received many compliments from the hospital staff on the colour. She commented many times on how comfy it was, soft, stretchy, and easy snaps to keep the bum covered, hehe.

Doulas are support people.

One of the ways we can support you is by providing you with books and resources that offer helpful information. I have many such books in my lending library, and so I am going to start a series of posts displaying different books and items that I have to help you.

Breastfeeding made simple is a book that was written by two professional lactation consultants. Through their years of experience they were able to come up with 7 guideposts of breastfeeding and simple tips and tricks to help with common issues that arise in feeding.
It can easily be used as a reference book jumping to the section that is helpful in your situation. At the end of each chapter there is a quick summary of information presented in the chapter to make referencing easier.
They also have references to other works that could be helpful, and a very thorough index.

Please feel free to reach out to me to talk about any of the items/books that I have to offer.
