Dear our valued Patients,

In leu of ICBC’s continual changes with their policies, we have come to the hard conclusion that moving forward we will not be providing direct billing for any patients as of March 20th, 2025, this includes new and current patients. We know that this may come as an inconvenience to our patients that we have already served throughout their claim.

ICBC has made it, so their new changes directly affect both the providers and you, the patient. Our main concern is our patient to practitioner confidentiality. With ICBC setting these policies in place there are concerns as to the access ICBC would have to patient files, including a back auditing system for a financial claw back of paid treatments. There are also significant increases in submission requirements from the practitioner without compensation for time spent. We do not want to impact access to care, due to rate increases.

To conclude, PG Acupuncture Ltd.; as of March 20th, 2025, we will no longer be doing direct billing on behalf of the patient and in turn the patient will be required to submit to ICBC themselves.

The issues arose due to ICBC's Health Care Services Terms, which allow qualifying health care services to bill ICBC directly for services provided to individuals.

FACT FRIDAY!

For your initial appointment and throughout treatments. Your Acupuncturists may ask to look at your tongue. This is not only the largest muscle in your body, but a large diagnostic tool! There is much information to gain about your health with simply looking at your tongue.

Take a look at this picture. What does your tongue say about your health? 😛

Good day community. So Bill 36 has actually gained traction and all Medical Colleges are being amalgamated into 4 Super Colleges. I have been asked many times in the last 3 years if we would get injections back. The time to bug our MOH with letters is now. I will ask if any of you that sent letters the first time to check your computer, could you please see if you still have your original letter and resend it to me? Apparently Dix and crew ignored our first attempt at drawing attention to this issue 3 1/2 years ago on the premise they would look at this issue when the colleges were blended. Now we have no steam and a lack of support. The BC Government is also going after the prescriptive rights of Traditional Chinese Medicine on the justification that we need to modernize and streamline, but in the same breath do not believe we need injections. Both have always been in the original scope of practice in China. Feel free to write directly to the MOH and our local representative because election season is upon us. Lets get our tools back!! Thanks in advance and of course this is time sensitive, the Government is playing hard political strategizing on this one.

Tip of your tongue to the tip of your toe…everything is connected.

Tip of your tongue to the tip of your toe…everything is connected.

Your tongue acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line that runs right down to your toes!

In nearly all my patients, I see poor tongue posture, and the links to bad spinal posture, breathing, and other issues are felt right throughout the body.

The simplest way we can see how the tongue is so influential is how it supports proper head posture. When the tongue is down and forward, forward head posture and mouthbreathing occurs.

Over time this associates with a narrow jaw, crooked teeth, and sleep disorders.

But… you guessed it, as always the mouth is a gateway for so many other systems in the body.

The tongue is an extremely complex muscular and fascial rudder system.

It guides all the structures of the myofascial continuity that runs from the inner arch of the foot all the way up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.

Isn’t that amazing?

Actually the tongue is potentially more important for core stability than turning on your actual core.

Our core begins deep under the arch with the insertions of the tendons from the lower leg, especially tibialis posterior.

To find its insertion, feel just under the inside arch of the foot, just underneath and forward of protrusion of the navicular bone you can feel a bit over an inch in front of your tibial malleolus on the inside of your ankle.

This point will respond to a soft-but-energy-rich touch that is held, and also to a more firm and direct fascial release. Pressing here can make a flow of feeling run up the fascial line.

So for better core support, spinal, hip and leg strength, you need to work on your tongue posture.

During exercise practice sealing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, this turns on the fascial rudder to the toes. It takes time and you need to work on making the BACK of the tongue connect to the soft palate. More on this to come.
