I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Angel Resendes, home grown in Prince George, BC, I am a Registered Nurse, and now Register Midwife. As a mother of 2 beautiful girls, I am in a constant state of learning from two amazing mentors. From the beginning of my career I have sought employment in challenging arenas of nursing and as such have gained valuable and
extensive knowledge in a variety of roles. The majority of my career has focused on Women’s Health, particularly Prenatal and Postpartum Care for marginalized women experiencing lifestyle challenges including Mental Health and Addictions. Midwifery has been a destined calling from my first pregnancy, where I was first introduced to women’s centered prenatal care. For the last part of my nursing career I coordinated the Pregnancy Outreach Program in Prince George, and was working closely with women and their families as they transition into motherhood. During my midwifery training with the University of BC Department of Family Medicine I had the privilege of working with some of the most phenomenal women I have ever met while I completed a rotation in the Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda Africa. It is during that rotation that the majority of my skills and attributes as a midwife were solidified. With the majority of my knowledge and skills coming directly from the families I have worked with, it is with great enthusiasm that I look forward to working with you and your families. My passion for women’s centered health continues as I advocate for not only more midwives in Northern communities, as well as for increased scope of practice for midwives. It is my belief that every women should have the access to choose the maternity care provider that can enhance their experience for a normal, healthy pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. I practice holistic health in my own family and bring my knowledge and clinical skill into the care I provide to my clients. My goals as a midwife are to deliver individualized maternity services based on your needs by focusing care on holistic approaches that respect and nurture informed choice and empowerment. It is my true belief that the status of a community is determined by the health and wellbeing of its women, and I look forward to being present for the most life altering transition in your family’s life. I look forward to meeting you and your families, and sharing space as you transition through your pregnancy into parenthood. I am currently practicing within the PG Midwives Collective, and working with 2 amazing mentor midwives, women and mothers. We work together to ensure support for one another and provide on call services so that we may each practice a holistic and balanced career while meeting the needs of our families.
