Michelle Kyle teaches animal reiki, following the principles of traditional Japanese reiki, as taught by Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki. She teaches all three levels, including Shinpiden (Level 3) animal reiki teacher training. Michelle was the first to teach Level 3 in Canada, in 2016. She is an experienced adult educator who teaches adult skills upgrading for the Avon Maitland District School Board, and is nearing completion of a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education at Brock University. She also completed two music degrees and a law degree.
Michelle studied traditional Japanese reiki with Kathleen Prasad and Frans Stiene. She studied Okuden (Level 2) and Shinpiden (Level 3) animal reiki with Kathleen Prasad at BrightHaven animal hospice in California and The CARE Foundation wildlife sanctuary in Florida, and has been a member of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association. She studied Shinpiden (Level 3) reiki with Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki in June 2017, and again in February 2019, and is a member of the Shibumi International Reiki Association. She attends and presents traditional Japanese reiki workshops and participates in regular online meditation and mantra chanting group practice sessions. Michelle also studied Western reiki with Bonnie Adam in Guelph, Carolyn Musial in Buffalo, NY, and William Lee Rand in Michigan. She studied Level 3 Holy Fire reiki with William Lee Rand, and has been a Professional member of the International Center for Reiki Training Membership Association. She has practiced human and animal reiki and other modalities including reflexology and Access Bars. She studied Integrated Energy Therapy with Leon Pelletier and Phoenix Rising Star in Sedona, Arizona; Melissa Risch in Indiana; and the creator of IET, Stephan Thayer, in Pennsylvania. She studied animal communication with Carol Gurney and Marta Williams of California. She now focuses on teaching animal reiki, which includes human reiki since we are humans. She has taught animal reiki since 2014, and her classes donate 25% of gross income to various animal rescues. Shoden (Level 1) classes, and day one of Okuden (Level 2) and Shinpiden (Level 3) classes, take place in a forest Bunkie behind Michelle's home near Monkton, Ontario, N0K 1P0, where students also benefit from the Japanese stress relief technique of Forest Bathing, and work with Michelle's 19 cats and 12 chickens. Okuden day 2 takes place at FrogHollow farm sanctuary in Princeton, where students work with various rescued farm animals. Shinpiden days 2 and 3 take place at Bear Creek Exotic Wildlife Sanctuary near Barrie, where students share reiki with lions, tigers, bears, and other exotic wildlife. Graduates of Michelle's classes are invited to participate in annual one-day reiki retreats at Bear Creek.
