Local Farmer's Markets are a fantastic place to purchase produce without chemicals or sprays as well as body care & cleaning products that don't have chemicals or toxins.

Did you know that the nutritional value of your produce starts decreasing as soon as the produce is harvested? By buying from local farmers, your produce does not have to travel as far and you will get more nutrition from the produce than items shipped from far away.

I'm so grateful to be able to visit regularly to stock up on the items that I need and support local entrepreneurs.

Today I bought lettuce (it's bigger than my head!) and carrots from .farm

I have been working with a few new nutrition clients this month and there has been a few common suggestions that I have had with each client. One of them is to start the day with a high protein breakfast. Here are a couple of ideas of high protein breakfasts.

1) High protein yogurt, homemade granola (oats, seeds and nuts), extra h**p hearts, blackberries (yes, blackberries are a source of protein), strawberries and hard boiled free range eggs

2) Egg, avocado, toast/bagel (in my case it's gluten free), fresh cherries (cherries also have a small amount of protein) picked from a friend's tree

Protein is important to include in your breakfast as it:

- is needed to make hormones to regulate the body

- balances blood sugar levels and helps prevent the highs and lows of blood sugar regulation

-provides much needed energy for your day

- helps your feel full longer, reducing the need for a mid morning snack

- is needed for muscle gromth and repair especially when paired with exercise

- is needed for brain health and cognitive function

- helps regulate mood, anxiety, focus and concentration as protein is needed to make the neurotransmitters that allow for communication between brain cells

Protein is needed for many essential functions of the brain and body. It's an essential nutrient to add to your breakfast to start your day!

Yesterday was garlic harvesting day. I had hoped for larger garlic but I am pleased that everything grew over the winter. Our first winter here on Vancouver Island produced very poor garlic yields. I'm still adjusting to a climate that is different that Manitoba and am missing the fertile farmland of Manitoba! We continue to add compost and seaweed to our gardens in the fall and plan for an even better yield next year!

✈️ It was a wonderful trip to Manitoba and yesterday we followed the sunset home to BC.

I gave 27 lessons over 4 1/2 work days. I think that's a record for me!

Highlights include:
🔹 the smiles and greetings of welcome when I enter each client's home
🔹the joy of a child who absolutely loves his lessons
🔹a child who can now move from their back to their front and up to sit with greater ease and less frustration
🔹 a client who started with pain when I touched their foot and their amazement that it no longer hurt when I touched that foot at the end of the lesson
🔹 a client walking in stooped and hunched over and then walked out standing tall and straight
🔹all the clients who had increased movement and decreased pain

💥 There were so many more highlights and changes experienced for each client than what has been mentioned. I am so glad that I have been able to continue regular trips to Manitoba to work with my clients. See you all again in August!

Breakfast outside overlooking the lake! The perfect way to rest and recharge after an incredibly busy three days of Neuromovement® lessons in Manitoba. I have two days at the lake with family and then back to work on Monday . It has been a joy to see my clients change, move better and have less pain this week!
