Nous sommes fiers d'annoncer que l'étudiante à la maîtrise, Anna-Kim Perron, a remporté la bourse Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSCFP). Sous la supervision du Prof. Marc-André Fortin et la co-supervision du Prof. Luc Beaulieu, Anna-Kim a su démontrer son potentiel et ses qualités exceptionnelles. Cette bourse, attribuée par l'Agence internationale de l'énergie atomique (AIEA), vise à encourager les jeunes femmes à poursuivre une carrière dans le secteur nucléaire. Son projet de recherche porte sur la caractérisation des gels dosimétriques MAGIC-PF pour la radiothérapie. Félicitations !

We are proud to announce that master's student Anna-Kim Perron has won the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship (MSCFP). Under the supervision of Prof. Marc-André Fortin and co-supervision of Prof. Luc Beaulieu, Anna-Kim has demonstrated her exceptional potential and qualities. This fellowship, awarded by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), aims to encourage young women to pursue a career in the nuclear sector. Her research project focuses on the characterization of MAGIC-PF dosimetric gels for radiotherapy. Congratulations!

Le 13 novembre s'est tenue la Journée de Recherche sur les Radioisotopes du CRCHU, organisée par le Pr Marc-André Fortin. Une journée enrichissante où plusieurs intervenants ont présenté leurs projets de recherche impliquant l’utilisation de radioisotopes. Un grand merci au Pr Valery Radchenko, à la Pr Brigitte Guérin, au Dr Jean-Mathieu Beauregard et à l’étudiant au doctorat Ngoh Njotu pour leurs présentations. Un merci spécial à M. Mehdi Boudjemeline pour sa présentation et pour la visite des installations du cyclotron du CHU de Québec - Université Laval.

On November 13, the CRCHU Radioisotope Research Day took place, organized by Prof. Marc-André Fortin. It was a rewarding day, with several speakers presenting their research projects involving the use of radioisotopes. Many thanks to Prof. Valery Radchenko from TRIUMF and UBC, Prof. Brigitte Guérin, Dr. Jean-Mathieu Beauregard, and PhD student Fabrice Ngoh Njotu for their presentations. A special thanks to Mr. Mehdi Boudjemeline for his presentation and for the tour of the CHU de Québec - Université Laval’s cyclotron facilities.

L’équipe de recherche BIM du CR-CHUQ-ULaval sont le sujet d’un reportage du Téléjournal de Radio-Canada- Québec, portant sur les craintes des étudiants internationaux face aux récentes annonces du gouvernement provincial et du gouvernement fédéral concernant le nombre d’étudiants étrangers admis, les programmes de francisation, et le moratoire sur le Programme Expérience Québec.

The BIM research team of CR-CHUQ-ULaval are the subject of a report by Téléjournal de Radio-Canada-Québec, focusing on the fears of international students in the face of recent announcements from the provincial and federal governments concerning the number of admitted foreign students, francization programs, and the moratorium on the Québec Experience Program (PEQ).

Prof. Marc-André Fortin from the BIM Laboratory of CR-CHUQ-ULaval publishes an opinion letter in the newspaper Le Devoir (Montreal) on the management of international students by governments.

Dans mon domaine d’expertise, le génie des matériaux, la science ne peut avancer sans ces perles qu’on s’arrache.

Le groupe de recherche BIM participe au colloque des étudiants du CQMF à l’Université Concordia (1er novembre 2024). Samila Léon présente un oral, et Raquel Espino Lopez, Mahdokht Akbari et Souheib Zekhraoui présentent une affiche de leurs recherches. Félicitations à Souheib Zakhraoui pour avoir remporté le premier prix de présentation pour son affiche. Le BIM souligne aussi l’excellente présentation Plénière de Pr. Valentina Guccini, de l’Université de Uppsala, invitée du laboratoire BIM (financement conjoint du Ministère des Relations Internationales du Québec et du Conseil Nordique).

The BIM research group participated in the CQMF student conference at Concordia University (November 1, 2024). Samila Léon presented an oral presentation, and Raquel Espino Lopez, Mahdokht Akbari and Souheib Zekhraoui presented a poster of their research. Congratulations to Souheib Zakhraoui for winning the first presentation prize for his poster. BIM also highlights the excellent Plenary presentation by Pr. Valentina Guccini, from the University of Uppsala, guest of the BIM laboratory (joint funding from the Ministry of International Relations of Quebec and the Nordic Council).

Plus de 20 participants sont attendus pour participer aux séminaires et aux démonstrations technologiques. Dans cette étude, des nanoparticules d'oxyde de fer ultra-petites ont été utilisées comme agent de contraste positif pour la visualisation par IRM de structures d'hydrogel à base d'alginate contenant des réseaux de pores pouvant être intégrés comme échafaudages cellulaires dans des procédures de médecine régénérative.

In this study, ultrasmall iron oxide nanoparticles were used as a positive contrast agent for MRI visualization of alginate-based hydrogel structures containing pore networks that can be integrated as cell scaffolds in regenerative medicine procedures.
