November is Indigenous Disability Awareness Month (IDAM).

This month, we honour and raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by Indigenous communities in Canada, who experience a higher rate of disabilities compared to the general population. IDAM is a vital platform to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Indigenous individuals living with disabilities and to acknowledge their significant contributions to our society in social, economic, and cultural spheres.

We were proud to be the Title Sponsor of Hoopfest in Kamloops, BC for the second year in a row! We also entered a team in this wheelchair basketball fundraising tournament - and we didn’t lose a game! 🏀🎉

Hoopfest celebrates wheelchair basketball with corporate and community players coming together for a fun evening featuring a tournament, dinner, and raffle prizes. After 25 years in Vancouver, the event is now in its second year in Kamloops, hosted by the Kamloops Adapted Sports Association. Most participants have never played wheelchair basketball - or even used a wheelchair - so it’s an entertaining and eye-opening experience for everyone. 🙌

We’re honoured to support inclusive sports and the Kamloops community. Thank you to all the organizers, volunteers, and players who made it a great night.

A big thank you to all the clinicians who visited our booth at the 21st annual Fraser Health Bridges Conference in Langley, BC last week! It was great to connect with over 200 OTs and Rehab Assistants to discuss topics that are meaningful to your practice. We’re proud to serve our community together and help more people access safe, personalized mobility solutions. 🙌♿️💙

Shoutout to Bobbie Lopez, Zayden Knapp, Brad Stephanson, and Ravi Bassi from our Lower Mainland BC team who staffed the booth all day. Thank you for representing NSM and supporting our community. 👏

This is the best way to end the week! 🙌

Guy Erbin and Lucas Markin from our Kamloops branch worked together when a young client’s family couldn’t get her power chair out of their vehicle. We were working near 100 Mile House (two hours from the branch), so we were able to bring a folding ramp to the client and her family - they got the chair out safely and our young client was mobile again.

The sweetest part is that she drew Guy a thank‑you card - it made our whole week! 💙🧡

We're always here to support families, caregivers, and clinicians across Canada.

Standing wheelchairs provide so many functional, health and social benefits. When Tina Madigan was told "It can't be done" for her double amputee client, she reframed the challenge: “If we are going to do this, what support do we need?”

By collaborating from the ground up, the NSM Barrie team delivered a custom-built standing power chair with tailored seating supports. The result: the client now has all the benefits of standing - made possible through true teamwork and problem-solving.
