Today we honour 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 — a day that celebrates the strength, resilience, creativity, and wisdom of women across the world.

At Somatic Temple, we also honour something deeper:
the 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲.

Women have long been taught to override their bodies.
To push through exhaustion, silence intuition and hold emotions quietly.

But the body always speaks.

Through sensation and breath.
Through tension and release.
Through the quiet inner knowing that guides us when we slow down enough to listen.

Healing is not about becoming someone new.
It’s about remembering the 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

Today we celebrate every woman learning to trust herself again — in her body, her boundaries, her voice, and her path.

May we continue to support one another in coming home to ourselves.

𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡.

Here's the science behind it.

Most forms of exercise activate the body. Dance activates the body and the brain at the same time.

* Memory.
* Coordination.
* Musical timing.
* Spatial awareness.
* Decision making.

Few activities require this much simultaneous processing.

When you learn movement, the brain builds new neural pathways.

This is called neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to adapt, grow, and reorganize itself. The more complex the movement, the more the brain is challenged to stay active and responsive.

Dance is especially powerful because it combines:
* physical effort
* mental focus
* rhythm and music
* emotional expression
* coordination in space

The brain thrives on this kind of layered challenge.

Research has linked regular dancing to:
* improved memory and attention
* better balance and coordination
* stronger mind-body awareness
* slower cognitive decline with age

You don't have to dance intensely to benefit. Learning new steps. Remembering combinations. Moving with music. Staying curious in the body.
