Supervisor of Direct Supports

Operating as a non-profit society since 1977, Etana provides support services to adults with developmental disabilities. We work with individuals in the city of Red Deer and area, with our office located in Red Deer. Etana continues to grow with respect to the number of individuals supported and personnel and are adaptive with our services to meet the needs of each individual.

The Position

The Supervisor of Direct Supports is directly accountable to the Program Manager to work directly on site, for the purpose of supporting, coordinating, establishing, organizing, monitoring, and responding to the overall daily operations of an enriched service for persons who have unique, challenging support needs.

Using a strong leadership acumen, the Supervisor of Direct Supports is dedicated to supporting the individuals and leading a team to implement positive interventions and intensive supports in order to facilitate optimal outcomes for the individuals with complex support needs.

In this role, you will utilize your highly developed intervention and leadership skills to provide intense support for skill development and implementation of intervention plans that will facilitate the optimal functioning of individuals, and will train and assist staff to optimize these skills. The successful candidate will provide support to individuals and their teams through advocacy, skill training, and community education.

This position ensures that the supervision, training and personal support provided meets the individual’s needs. With exceptional communication skills, the Supervisor of Direct Supports is also responsible for liaising with government departments, family and other related community support agencies, ensuring that services provided are of the maximum possible benefit to the individual and that services are operated in accordance with standards as set down by Etana, Disability Services and CARF Accreditation Standards.

Inclusion Alberta needs your help to understand how people are experiencing PDD (Persons with Developmental Disabilities) and FSCD (Family Support for Children with Disabilities) by completing a survey.

Inclusion Alberta has been hearing from an increasing number of individuals and families who are having challenges in obtaining funding, services, and supports from both FSCD and PDD. We hope these surveys will provide a more complete understanding of whether individuals are getting necessary supports and funding in a timely manner. We think it’s time to take a measure of FSCD and PDD and hear from families and individuals. Without your input there is no way to know if these programs are supporting individuals and families as they should due to an absence of current data from the Alberta government. The information you provide will allow Inclusion Alberta to communicate to government about the importance of FSCD and PDD and where changes are needed.

Who can fill out the FSCD survey:
-Whether you are a family waiting to get FSCD, receiving it, receiving it but with inadequate supports, stopped receiving it in the past 2 years, or perhaps been denied, we need to hear from you.

Who can fill out the PDD survey:
-Adults who are eligible for PDD can fill it out from their own perspective.
Family members, guardians, supporters and ‘chosen family’ are also invited to complete the survey.
