Time for the big reveal! You guys have had sneak peaks over the past couple months of construction. We appreciate how patient you all were with all the noise, mess, and changes.

Our space at 104-550 Laura Ave is officially Gasoline Alley Wellness! Find out more info at gasolinealleywellness.ca and get directions from the Google business page.

After over a year of being in the space, we finally have a name and a sign. Make yourselves at home, enjoy some reading materials, browse some products, check out the business cards from our community board or our little table in the front, and help yourself to a Gasoline Alley Wellness sticker!

A huge thank you to everyone who made this happen and a special thanks to our amazing artist who painted our wall decal! She is unreal!

Last but not least, will be massaging from Tina's room a couple Saturdays per month! She also online books with Jane and direct bills. Make sure to book her Gasoline Alley Wellness location.

Well this amazing community came through! You guys voted me to win Platinum for the Red Deer Community Votes!

From moving out here solo 3 years ago and not knowing anyone except two friends 2 hours away, you guys have become such an incredibly supportive community. Patients, friends, fellow runners, fellow chiropractors and other healthcare professionals - you guys are unreal! I'm blessed to wake up every day and do my best to help you all live your best lives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Yesterday I accomplished what I never thought would be physically possible. Ran my first 50K ultramarathon through the mountains of the Crowsnest Pass. It was beautiful but challenging, and my body told me to give up many times, but my mind said that was not an option.

My friends have peer pressured me into doing this, encouraged and joined me in countless training hours along the way, and completed the race with me. There were also many strangers along the way and we all supported and encouraged each other.

This is your reminder that you can indeed do hard stuff. Push yourself past your limits. Growth never happens in the comfort zone.

**Construction happening soon in Gasoline Alley on the Leva/Laura roundabout by the big Gasoline Alley sign** 🚧

Starting May 21 for 7 weeks. The roundabout will be open but slow, so Lantern or McKenzie Road will be better options to get into Gasoline Alley.

Let's talk about muscles! Today we will learn about the trapezius muscles.

The trapezius muscles are split into 3:
- Upper trapezius
- Middle trapezius
- Lower trapezius

There is a left and right portion of each on either side of the spine. All the portions together basically look like a diamond.

Most people commonly just know them as "traps" and generally we are referring to the upper traps portion. This is where people generally hold their stress. Tension in the upper traps can also cause a headache felt up the back of the head, temples, or eyebrow area.

Muscle attachment to bone: The upper traps attach onto the base of the skull, the cervical spine, and onto the upper portion of the shoulder blade (scapula).

Role: The upper traps help you look up, bring your ear to shoulder, and play a role in shoulder movement. A LOT of upper body exercises will engage the upper trap muscles.

Now onto the often overlooked middle and lower trap muscles. They help with scapular retraction (squeezing the shoulder blades) and stabilizing the scapula to keep shoulders back and down instead of rolling forwards. Yes - you all know what I'm talking about! The lower traps attach to the spine at the T12 vertebrae - all the way at the bottom of your ribcage just before your low back starts.

Strengthening middle and lower traps can help a lot with neck pain, upper back pain, shoulder function, and headaches. If you'd like to get started on some exercises for these, let me know at your next visit!
