🚨Alberta Alert Ready Test🚨

Today at 1:55 p.m., Alberta will participate in a test of "Alert Ready", Canada's emergency alert system.📱⚠️

This test alert will be sent to cellphones, TVs, and radio stations across the province to ensure the system works incase of a real emergency.

Please Note:
- No action is required
- This is only a test
- It helps us be prepared for a real emergency

* Notice for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or partially sighted: Alternate formats of the alerts may be issued, however, not every alerting authority or device has the capability to produce or receive these formats.*

Today at Safety City Red Deer, we are recognizing Red Dress Day.❤️
A day to honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Woman, Girls, 2SLGBTQIA+ and all Indigenous people.
The red dress has become a powerful symbol of love, strength, and the voices of those who are missing. When we wear red or see red dresses displayed, it reminds us that these individuals are not forgotten.
Together we can honour the lives of those lost and support a safer future.

Emergency Preparedness Week is here!

What if the most important emergency tool isn’t something on a shelf - but something we build together?

In Red Deer County, preparedness is about more than flashlights, generators, and 72-hour kits. It’s about people. It’s about knowing your neighbours, checking in on one another, and recognizing that during disruption, strong community connections help us recover faster and stronger.

This Emergency Preparedness Week, Red Deer County is proud to build on Alberta Be Prepared’s “In It Together” theme with a simple but powerful reminder: Don’t Let Being Neighbourly Go Extinct.

Last summer our resident Sparky had his fire house vandalized. This event drastically reduced our ability to deliver Fire & Home Safety programs to children in the fall of 2025.

We would like to give a huge shout out and heartfelt thank you to South Hill Window for donating the sealed window unity that required replacement!

With these repairs finished and more underway Sparky's House will be up and running again in no time đźš’
