Authenticity isn’t a fixed, permanent or ever-present state. If it were that easy, life would feel much different, wouldn’t it?

It can be helpful to see authenticity as a process or a practice. It takes a lot of work to unravel our conditioning, battle with self-doubt or fight of judgment (from self or others). It is a basic human need to belong and be accepted - and often this need can override our ability to show up authentically.

Some practices that can be helpful to embracing who you are:
- practicing presence
- connecting to your values
- communicating honestly
- setting boundaries
- identifying and speaking your truth
- connecting with folks who make it safe to be authentic and real
- embodiment practices (such as moving authentically in your body)

So many of us struggle with feeling connected to our most authentic self. And often even when we do feel connected, it can be difficult to express this.

There are so many factors that get in the way of our authenticity: societal conditioning and expectations, family norms, trauma, external pressure, systematic oppression, self-doubt, perfectionism and more. It really is a privilege (in more than one sense of the word) to explore our depths and live our most authentic expression of being human.

Our work here is guided by the desire for all humans to have the right to express their own authentic version of aliveness.

How connected do you feel to your own authenticity?

The Unravelling - a return to authentic aliveness

“can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?” - Charles Bukowski

Welcome to The Unravelling:

A conscious process of peeling away the layers that have disconnected you from who you really are.

Within this trauma-informed group container, it is our mission to unravel and unlearn our conditioning so that we can embody our authenticity, embrace our aliveness and call our parts back into wholeness.

We meet ourselves and each other with curiosity and compassion, while also taking responsibility for the parts that are more difficult to own.

We will support this unwinding through deep inquiry, somatic/embodiment work, arts and expressive arts modalities, and witnessing + being witnessed.

The Container:

We will meet 8 times within a 2.5 month container, for two hours at a time, with breaks in between some weeks to allow for extra rest and integration.

Our next cohort will meet on Sundays from 1-3pm, with our first meeting on April 28.

In between sessions, there will be practices and reflections to continue to aid the process of raising consciousness, while unwinding and unhooking from conditioning.

Areas of Exploration:

In this group, we will explore our core/internalized beliefs and core wounds (mother + father wounds, abandonment wounds, attachment wounds, trauma).

We will look at our relationships (to ourselves and our higher selves, our loved ones, our bodies, s*x, money).

We will work on embodying difficult emotions (such as shame, grief, disgust, anger, joy - anything that is hard for you to experience).

We will seek to create a deeper connection to ourselves and to others. We will work on self-compassion, self-expression, self-trust and self-soothing. We will work on improving a sense of embodiment and connection to body wisdom.

Registration:

This group will be small, in order to offer the containment needed to do this deep work.

Registration is accepted on an application basis.

Please visit our website for more information about the process, dates, and investment, and to complete the application form.

What is a ‘Night Sea Journey’? •Relaxed + Rooted: Therapeutic Yoga Series for Anxiety Relief•

If you are feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, stuck in your head, frazzled, ruminative, unable to unwind, ungrounded or like you’re revving or spinning… then this series may be for you.

In this series, we meet weekly over six weeks, in order to create a container where we can deepen into ourselves + into community, and stay focused on moving into a different way of being.

No previous yoga experience needed.

We spend time doing breathwork, reflection and restorative yoga poses that help us move out of our head and into our body, bringing more connection to the parasympathetic nervous system.

The intention of this series is in the title: creating a practice that allows you to move into deep relaxation and a sense of rootedness within yourself, allowing you to relate to your anxiety off the mat in an embodied way.

Befriending the Body

6-week group process

And I said to my body, softly,
“I want to be your friend.”

It took a long breath and replied,
‘”I’ve been waiting my whole life for this.”

- Nayyirah Waheed

Our relationship with our body is one of the most important relationships we will ever have.

Connection to our body allows us to listen to and respond to our needs, relate to others, protect ourselves and fully experience our aliveness.

However, many of us have experienced disruption in our connection to our body (known as disembodiment), perhaps due to societal norms, objectification, oppression, trauma, emotional or physical pain, stress, injury or other experiences.

When disembodied, we may live in our head, be overly critical, experience body shame, engage in disordered eating, be ruled by a dysregulated nervous system, or ignore our needs and autonomy.

“Befriending The Body” is a gentle 6-week process intended to support you in beginning to rebuild a healthy relationship to your body.

Through somatic work, art and expressive arts therapies, deep inquiry and sharing, we will seek to invite embodiment, in order to cultivate connection, attunement and compassion to the home you live in.

Areas of Exploration:

* Building safety and containment within the body
* Increasing awareness of factors that have impacted our connection to our body and reflecting on our body’s journey
* Uncovering beliefs we have about our body
* Reconnecting to our body as a resource
* Improving inner awareness
* Increasing ability to listen to our body’s messages and needs

•The Art of Wintering Retreat•

If you are feeling the call to slow down, turn inward, and be nourished, our “Art of Wintering” retreat may be the medicine you are seeking.

For many of us, winter can be a difficult time as we try to ‘human’ amongst the icy cold temperatures, short days, and little sunlight.

This ‘outer’ winter can also be reflected as an ‘inner’ winter - a season sometimes met with heaviness, slowness and difficulty within.

In our society, it seems to be a ‘norm’ to continue to try to be energized, productive and enlivened all year round.

“The Art of Wintering” retreat is an invitation to move with the rhythm and wisdom of winter, dropping into introspection, nourishment, slowness and self-care and connecting with the heavier, more shadowy sides of ourselves.

Your Experience Will Include:

* Inquiry + Reflection
* Sacred Tea Ceremony
* Embodied Movement
* Expressive Arts
* Ayurvedic Wisdom for Winter
* Yoga Nidra Practice
* Sound Healing
* A warm lunch, nourishing snacks and beverages
* Optional Angel Card Reading

If you want to truly honour your feelings, you have to be willing to let others around you be uncomfortable.

Notice how often you suppress or dilute your sadness, hurt, anger to keep those around you cozy… because THEY don’t know what to say or do.

Not only does this do you a disservice, but it can actually enable the other person to not to grow their own capacity to hold and be with emotion too.

(And because this is the internet and everything is taken so black and white… of course there are situations where it’s appropriate to contain your emotions. Or times when it’s not safe to be honest).
