A Huge THANK YOU!
Our annual Sensory Trick-or-Treating event was another amazing success! We loved seeing all the costumes, smiles, and excitement from families who joined us.
A heartfelt thank-you to our incredible volunteers and staff as this event would not have been possible without you! Some of you even had transformed storage spaces into Halloween stops. Your time, energy, and commitment made this such a fun and inclusive experience for everyone.
SLB is so grateful for your support and can’t wait to do it again next year! 👻🧡

Fun with Final “G”!
Chamique and her client had a blast targeting the final “g” sound by coming up with and drawing words that end with “g,” including egg, slug, and pug. This activity combined creativity with targeted speech practice and provided lots of opportunities for repetition and reinforcement.

🌎 October 22 – National Stuttering Awareness Day 💬
Today we raise awareness and celebrate the voices of people who stutter. Stuttering is a neurological difference in the way speech is produced and not a reflection of intelligence, confidence, or ability.
How you can help support people who stutter:
✅ Be patient. Don’t interrupt or finish their sentences. Let them take the time they need to express themselves.
✅ Listen attentively. Focus on what is being said, not how it’s being said.
✅ Maintain eye contact. This shows respect and helps reduce pressure.
✅ Avoid advice like “slow down” or “relax.” These comments, though well-intentioned, often increase frustration.
✅ Create supportive environments. Whether in classrooms, workplaces, or social settings. Value communication in all its forms.
At Speech & Language Builders, we believe that every voice deserves to be heard and understood. Let’s take today to learn, listen, and help make the world a more accepting place for people who stutter. 💙

We’re so excited to be bringing this event back for another year! Designed with accessibility and fun in mind, our sensory-friendly Halloween event gives children and families the chance to enjoy trick-or-treating in a calm, welcoming environment. 🧡
✨ What to expect:
- A safe and inclusive space for all children
- Sensory-friendly environment
- Our team ready behind each office door with a special treat for trick-or-treaters... just like visiting a neighborhood full of houses, but in one convenient, warm, sensory-friendly place!
- Perfect for families who want the fun of trick-or-treating without the worry about weather, safety, or over-stimulating environments.

🎵 Our favourite music therapy group is back!
Designed for preschool and early elementary-aged kiddos (ages 3–6) and their grown-ups, Music in Me is a creative, connection-focused program that uses rhythm, melody, and movement to support communication, emotional expression, and social development.
Join us for four playful, music-filled afternoons that will leave everyone smiling (and singing)!
🎵 What to Expect:
✔️ Fun, engaging music-based activities
✔️ Support for expressive and receptive language
✔️ Social interaction and emotional expression through music
✔️ Bonding time—each child attends with one parent or guardian
✔️ A warm, inclusive space where all children and families are welcome
