Last year?! You haven’t had a massage since LAST YEAR?!! 😅

Chances are, your benefit plan reset on January 1st, so what are you waiting for? 🤷‍♀️

I hear that a lot of people save their massage therapy benefits in case they get hurt… but did you know, that you’re less likely to ‘get hurt’ in a lot of ways if you’re already regularly going for massage therapy? Taking care of your body helps to keep it in good health.

And, as some of you just discovered in December, it can be very difficult to use up all of your benefits at the end of the year because so many other people do the same thing and your fav RMTs are VERY BUSY. 🫠

So this year, do yourself a favour and book regular massages throughout the year. Your body will thank you (and so will your RMT!) 🫶🏻

It’s not necessarily your ‘bad’ posture causing your pain! 👇

Rounded shoulders is where your shoulders are rotated forward, pulling the shoulder girdle forward, which shortens your chest muscles and stretches your upper back and trapezius muscles. It is often a result of upper cross syndrome, which includes a forward head posture and kyphosis. Upper cross syn...

Interesting study on pain:

The International Association of Pain Society (IASP) have introduced the term “nociplastic pain” in 2017 to describe chronic pain that does not fit into the other two existing pain descriptors: Neuropathic and nociceptive. Recently researchers wrote that meaningful distinctions among all three descriptors “remain unclear,” and their impact on treatment decisions is uncertain.

The International Association of Pain Society (IASP) have introduced the term “nociplastic pain” in 2017 to describe chronic pain that does not fit into the other two existing pain descriptors: Neuropathic and nociceptive. However, putting the new term into practice can be challenging since noci...

Hey! Hi! Hello there!! It’s been awhile and I have many new followers since the last time I did an introduction, so let me tell you a bit about myself! 👋🏻

My name is Carissa and I am the face (and hands) behind Exhale Massage Therapy. I took a leap in a career change and went back to school to become an RMT in my early 30s after working jobs that were just a miserable paycheque - I couldn’t see myself behind a desk for the rest of my working life and I wanted the people I served to remember that I truly wanted to make a difference and help them feel and live better. 🌻

My approach to your treatment begins specifically with you - what you can tell me about how & what you’re feeling, your pain or stress, previous experiences with RMTs and other treatment providers, your life and how you live it - and how you want to be able to live it. I’m not a ‘no pain-no gain’ RMT - I won’t dig harder and harder into that sore spot for you. I will work on more than what you think you need worked on and listen to your body’s response to my work. You may leave feeling tender in spots, but you shouldn’t leave feeling beat up or bruised. And I won’t ‘fix’ you, in one treatment or in many - that’s your job. But I can help! 🤗

Remember to use your health benefits for 2025 and book some ‘me-time’ online at: exhale.janeapp.com

Exhale Massage Therapy stands with Indigenous peoples across Canada in caring for residential school survivors, remembering those who never returned home, and committing to the ongoing work of reconciliation.

Healing happens when we create space for truth, compassion, and understanding. Today, and every day, I wish to encourage our community to listen to Indigenous voices, learn our shared history, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation.

This is not just a day of remembrance - it’s a commitment to ongoing action.

Every child matters. 🧡
