This year The Stretch Collective is proud to participate in the Player Sponsorship with the Regina Thunder! Now I might be a little biased as the player I am sponsoring is my son, Liam Sellwood. But when I have watched him put 110% into football & bettering himself as a player over the last 7 years, it was a no brainer.
Liam is going into his third year with the Thunder organization for 2025 season. 2025 brings a new number for Liam moving from #93 in his first two years to #55 which he wore for four years in high school.
Since he discovered football in grade 9, Liam has put everything into the sport! Hitting the gym 6 days a week, numerous skill camps, endless hours of watching film year over year all to be the best he can be. All his hard work & dedication to becoming a better player has been reflected in what he has been able to accomplish in his first two years in the CJFL ( Canadian Junior Football League).
In his rookie season, Liam played in every game & was awarded the team’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. In his second season, he was faced with some illness & injury but was still able to concentrate his efforts on improving & helped the team clinch the 2024 PFC (Prairie Football Conference) Championship!! In addition, he was named the PFC Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman, named a PFC All Star & CJFL 1st Team All-Canadian Defensive Linemen as well as recipient of one of the Thunder President’s Scholarship Awards.
To say I am proud of Liam not only as the person & player he has become but also for what he has accomplished would be an understatement. His continued drive to improve & leadership role on the team was recognized this year as Liam was selected as one of 6 team captains. He wears the C with great pride and loyalty to his fellow teammates & coaches.
Supporting an amateur athlete like Liam allows me to invest in his hard work, discipline & commitment to the sport of football but also to an amazing organization in the Regina Thunder. The president, GM, medical staff, trainers and coaches are nothing short of amazing for what they do for all the boys.
Go Thunder!!!
